Recipe for the Three Butterfly Friend card, 57:02 on video
This card is cased from Mary Deatherage at Stamps N Lingers with changes to the greeting and the greenery, the number of butterflies and the inside but essentially the same.

- Base: Misty Moonlight, 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4
- Border Layer: Basic Black, 4 X 5 1/4, you will build your card on this layer and then pop it up on the base
- Top Layer: Butterfly Bijou, 5 1/8 X 3 3/4, die cut with second largest Stitched With Whimsy Die and then cut at 1 1/2 to make two top pieces glued directly to the Basic Black with a 1/8″ gap. This gives a 1/16″ border.
- Greeting: Basic White, 3 1/4 X 2 1/4, die cut with second largest Stitched Shape Oval Die
- Greenery: Mint Macaron, 1 3/4 X 3 1/2, stamped with a Forever Fern stamp and die cut with Forever Flourishing Die
- Inside Layer: Basic White, 5 1/8 X 4, Die cut with the 2 3/4 X 1 1/4 Stitched With Whimsy Die to make a frame for the inside greeting. Two small butterflies are fussy cut from a sheet of the Butterfly Bijou DSP.
- Bottom Inside Strip: Basic Black, 1 1/8 X 5 1/8
- Bottom Inside Strip Top Layer: Butterfly Bijou DSP to match the front DSP, 7/8 X 5; this will give you the 1/16″ border on the left and right and a 1/8″ border on the top and bottom to match the 1/8″ gap on the front

Lions & Dragons – Oh My!

Let’s have some fun with Lions (dandelions) and Dragons (dragonflies)!

Yesterday I was live on Facebook with January’s club cards. Each club member had kits with all the supplies so this time my presentation was different with just the construction of the card without going from the beginning to the end and listing all the sizes of the card cuts, so this blog post will fill in the gaps!
Dragonfly Z Fold Club Card Introducing The Dandy Garden Suite
This suite is on Page 25 of the JJ catalog (Jan-June mini)!
Recipe:
Base: Bumble Bee, 5 1/2 X 10 7/8, Lay the base horizontally at the 7 1/4″ mark and cut down 1 1/8 inch, then score the rest of the way.
Secondly, mark the left hand side down from the top at 3 3/8″ and cut the base from 1 1/8″ to the 3 3/8″ mark. (Note: the tip of the cut is at 1 1/8″).
Score the base at 3 5/8″ from the left. You now have two score lines: one at 3 5/8′ and one at 7 1/4″.
Your base is done!
Let’s mount our little dragonflies and the bumblebees on little strips of window sheets.
Window sheet strips (X2): 3/8″ X 1 1/4″
Bumblebees: Use the Dandy Wishes Dies little Bumblebee die to cut two bumblebees from the Dandy Garden DSP (Designer Series Paper). Color the back of the bumblebees with Mossy Meadow. Place glue dots on the top of one of the window sheets, one on the front and one glue dot on the back, and then adhere your bumblebees back to back. The “Garden Wishes” stamp set has a bumblebee image to stamp if you would rather have a stamp set than a die set.
Dragonflies: The Dandy Garden DSP has sheets that match up with the Dragonfly punch (which is bundled with the ‘Dragonfly Garden’ stamp set for a 10% discount) and you will punch out two matching small dragonflies and mount them on your window sheet strip with a glue dot on the window sheet front and on the back.
Back Layer of the Z fold: Dandy Garden DSP, full rectangle – 3 3/8″ wide X 5 1/4″ tall. The DSP is directional.
Middle Layer of the Z fold (which is on the back of the base): Dandy Garden DSP, Start with a piece of DSP, 3 3/8″ wide X 4 1/8″ tall, Mark down 1 1/8″ on the right hand side and cut from the tip of the left hand side to the mark on the right hand side. Flip your base over and place your bumblebee where he will be on top of a dandelion at the back when you fold the card flat. Use a glue dot to position the bumblebee and then adhere the DSP.
Front Layer of the Z fold: Dandy Garden DSP, 3 3/8″ wide X 3″ tall to start. Mark 1 1/8 ” down -this time on the left hand side and cut a diagonal from the tip of the 3″ to the 1 1/8″ mark. Before adhering, wrap your linen thread around the DSP and tie a bow.
Note: On both the middle and the front layer, you can place your DSP where it will go, and make your marks for your diagonal cuts without measuring so that if your diagonal cut is not quite perfect your layer will be and will have a nice 1/8″ border.
Greeting Border: Bumblebee, 3 1/4″ X 3 1/4″, cut with the Largest Square Stitched Shape Die (2 5/8″)
Greeting Top Layer: Whisper White, 2 1/2″ X 2 1/2″, cut with the 2nd largest Square Stitched Shape Die (2 1/8″). I stamped the greeting from Dragonfly Garden, “May Good Things Grow All Year Long”, in green, and then did a stamp off of the dragonfly cluster across the greeting in Bumble Bee ink.
Embellishments: One little ladybug mounted with a glue dot. 16″ of Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim.
Alternative Cut: Diagonal Z fold with the diagonal from the back to the front.
The base of this card uses just 1/2 of a piece of cardstock so you can make two cards from one sheet.
Base: Bumble Bee, 5 1/2″ X 10 7/8″ scored at 3 5/8″ and 7 1/4″ with a diagonal cut from left to right at the 5 1/2″ cut down to 1″ from the bottom on the right.
Note: I have a 1/8″ border on the right, left and tops but did not have a border on the bottom.
Back Layer: DSP, 3 3/8″ wide X 3 1/4 ” tall, cut diagonally left to right from the 3 1/4″ tip to 1 3/8″ down from the top.
Back Greeting: Shimmer White, 3 3/8″ wide X 1 7/8″ tall, For this greeting I stamped the “Thank You For Your Kindness” from Dragonfly Garden in blue and then added a punched out dragonfly.
Middler Layer– goes on the back of the base: DSP, striped in this case, 3 3/8″ wide X 3 7/8″ tall , diagonally cut from the right to the left from the tip to left marked at 1 1/2 “. Tip: place the top of your layer with a nice 1/8” border and trim the bottom since it is flush to the bottom.
Front Layer: 3 3/8″ wide X 2 3/8″ tall, cut diagonally from the left to the right marked at 1 3/8″ from the top. Now wait — don’t adhere yet.
Dragonfly: Dandy Garden DSP, punch two large dragonflies and mount them with glue dots on a strip of Window Sheet 3/8″ X 1 1/4″. Use another glue dot to adhere the window sheet to the front of the base.
After the Dragonfly is adhered – adhere your front layer.
Embellishments: Die cut a bumble bee from DSP and adhere to front; adhere a ladybug trinket with a glue dot to front; tie a little bow with 8″ of Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim and adhere it to the back.

Sand and Sea Club Cards Introducing The Sand & Sea Suite
This suite is on page 41 of the JJ catalog.
I used the Whale Of A Time Designer Series Paper instead of the paper in the suite so I had a smaller background behind the shells. The cards shown above have three different backgrounds from the Whale of a Time DSP:

Recipe:
Base: Pretty Peacock, 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″, Scored at 4 1/4″
Layer 1: Whale of a Time DSP, 5 3/8″ X 4 1/8″
Layer 2: Garden Green, Start with 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″ and cut with the largest Seaside Seashell Die to make a base.
Layer 3: Granny Apple Green, Start with 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″ and cut with the largest Seaside Seashell Die, then cut out all the little vines and glue them to the Garden Green base. This gives you a nice contrast of greens. Note: you can cut into the seashells to give more area to adhere the vines since the seashells will be glued on top.
Layer 4: Pearlescent Specialty Paper, Start with 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″ and cut with the largest Seaside Seashell Die, then cut out all the seashells and glue them on the base over the greenery.
Greeting: Shimmery White, Start with 1 X 2 1/2″, stamp the greeting, and then cut with the rectangle stitched die to make a perfectly sized rectangle. Cut one end, stop halfway, reposition the die on the other end and cut that half. I demonstrate this in the video.
Inside: Shimmery White, 5 3/8″X 4 1/8″
Inside strip: DSP cut from the same piece as the background, 5/8″ X 4 1/8″

Hand Drawn Blooms and Prized Peony

Today’s Facebook Live event was successful!! For those of you who have done this for a long time I’m sure you are shaking your head but it was my third Facebook Live and the second one crashed and had to be abandoned. So two successful events feels rather nice!
Club members received two card kits for this month’s club and we joined together with a Facebook Live followed by a Zoom meeting. We created an Easel card with the Hand Drawn Blooms bundle and a Tri-Fold card with the Prized Peony bundle.
What you still need is the specific recipe for each card.
Easel Card with Rainbow Glimmer Paper:
Color #1, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo
Color #2, Granny Apple Green and Bermuda Bay
The Banner Blooms Die was used to cut the beautiful bouquet from the Rainbow Glimmer Paper. Since the paper is multi colored the cards were different depending on where the cut was made.
Recipe:
- Base: 4 1/4 X 11 scored at 5 1/2 and 2 3/4
- Layer 1: 5 3/8 X 4 1/8 Make 2 and Corner Round the top of one
- Layer 2: Shimmer White, 4 X 5 1/4 , Corner Round the top
- Easel Holder: Shimmer White, 4 X 1
- Scrap of Shimmer White on which to stamp the words to put on the banner 3 X 1 1/2
- Rainbow Glimmer Paper: 6 X 4, cut one bouquet and one butterfly
- Twine: 10″
- Jewels to embellish: 3
- Ink: Bermuda Bay or Melon Mambo
- Stamp Set: Hand-Drawn Blooms
- Die Set: Banner Blooms

Prized Peony Tri-Fold Card:

Recipe:
- Base: Whisper White 12″ X 6″
To cut your tri-fold follow these step by step instructions:
- Place the base on the Stampin’ Up! Cutter the long way – (vertically) on 2″ mark- and cut from the 2″ to the 10″ mark on the cutter
- Move the base to the 4″ mark on cutter and cut from 2″ to 10″
- Turn the base the short way-(horizontal) and place it at the 2″ mark of the cutter and score from 0″ to 2″, lift the scoring blade and move to the 4″ mark on the cutter and score from 4″ to 6″
- Move the base to the 4″ mark on cutter and score from 0″ to 6″- top to bottom
- Turn the base to the other side and place it at the 2″ mark of the cutter and score from 0″ to 2″, lift the scoring blade and move to the 4″ mark on the cutter and score from 4″ to 6″
- Move the base to the 4″ mark on cutter and score from 0″ to 6″- top to bottom
Front Base Layer: Whisper White 5 1/8 X 3 5/8
Layer #1 all in Basic Gray:
- (1) 5 X 3 1/2 for front base
- (2) 5 7/8 X 1 7/8
- (3) 3 7/8 X 1 7/8
- (5) 1 7/8 X 1 7/8
Layer #2 in Designer Series Paper (Note: two of the top layers are whisper white)
- (1) 4 7/8 X 3 3/8 for front base

Whisper White – all three pieces are embossed at the bottom with the Peony Edge Die

- (1) 1 3/4 X 1 3/4 for stamping peony
Envelope Punch Board – Whisper White Envelope Paper 8 1/4 X 8 1/4 with 3 3/8 score line starting point
Envelope Decor – Designer Series Paper 6 X 3 1/2, glue to flap and then fussy cut to fit
Ribbon – 1/4″ Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon- 10″ for knot, 12″ for bow
Elegant Faceted Jems – 3
Peony (4) – Petal Pink 8 1/2 X 3 , die cut the four parts, each piece slides into the next largest piece matching up the notches. Use a bone folder to curl the edges and then sponge with Blushing Bride for a darker contrast.
Stamin (1) – Scrap of Daffodil Delight at least 1″ square
Leaves (3)- Garden Green large sections 2 X 3, die cut one of each size
Leaf accent (3)- Granny Apple Green 2 X 3, die cut one of each size
I used a glue dot to attach each piece at the notch and then added dimensionals in between the layers.
Here is the base with the gray granite layer and the DSP layers, the white part of the base is where you will glue the front base so it does not need a gray layer:
This shows the front base added and the die cutting at the bottom of each edge of the white pieces:
Obviously, you want to stamp the white pieces before you adhere.
I stamped the greeting in Basic Gray and then colored the back of the peony stamp with Stampin’ Write Markers – Petal Pink, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green and Granny Apple Green.
Note: Do not use Stampin’ Blends – they will stain your stamp.
Prized Peony Suite Card
Here is a card I made using every single one of the Prized Peony Suite products for a thank you card. I am casing Mary Deatherage of Stampsnlingers with this one:
Recipe:
- Base: Gray Granite 4 1/4 X 11 scored at 5 1/2
- Front Base: Gray Granite 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 Embossed with the Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder; it might need shaved a hair on the edges if it stretches
- Front Mat: Petal Pink 2 7/8 X 5 1/2
- Cross Panel Mat: Petal Pink 2 1/8 X 4 1/4
- Inside Mat: Petal Pink 4″ X 5 1/4″
- Front Vertical Top: Peony Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP) 2 3/4 X 5 1/2 colored with Stampin’ Blends Petal Pink and Granny Apple Green. Don’t panic as you color the DSP flowers pink, as they look an ugly dark pink from the grey on the back of the DSP showing through. Once it dries it is a pretty petal pink!
- Front Horizontal Panel Top: Peony Garden DSP 2 X 4 1/4
- Inside Liner Top: Whisper White 3 7/8 X 5 1/8
- Sentiment: Whisper White Scrap stamped with Hand Drawn Blooms and fussy cut
- Ribbon – 1/4″ Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon- 4″, glued underneath peony with glue dot
- Elegant Faceted Jems – 3
- Peony (4) – Petal Pink 8 1/2 X 3 , die cut the four parts, each piece slides into the next largest piece matching up the notches. Use a bone folder to curl the edges and then sponge with Blushing Bride for a darker contrast.

Shrinky Dink Lady Bug & Thoughtful Blooms
Hello Stamping Friends,
This week’s card is one of those cards that will make you smile many times as you make it! You do make the cards I post, right?
Or they can just smile as they look at yours!
That’s true, Sal! I love to go shopping and smile at people and see if I get a smile back. I tell Paul I am collecting smiles! So hopefully today’s card will bring a smile to your day.
I made a shrinky dink ladybug with the Little Ladybug stamp set. This set is free through the end of March with a $300 party/order. All our hostess’ this quarter have been able to earn the stamp set. We are starting a new rotation of clubs if you would like to be part of a club and earn hostess rewards like this.
To make a shrinky dink ladybug:
- Stamp the Little Ladybugs on clear shrinky dink paper with Staz On ink
- Cut them out with the coordinating framelits (#153588- available until March 31)
- Color the back with alcohol markers; use Light Real Red Stampin’ Blend as the color will darken as it heats
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper
- Put them on the cookie sheet and in the oven colored side up for two to three minutes, they will curl then lay flat
- Leave them in an extra 30 seconds after they lay flat
- Remove from oven and flatten them with an acrylic block
You must use Staz On ink and alcohol markers. In the past we used permanent ink Sharpies but now we have a whole plethora of our own alcohol markers.
Now that you have a tiny ladybug, let’s give her some flowers with the Thoughtful Blooms Sale A Bration stamp set, free with a $50 order.
It might help if we could see a picture of the card.
Imagine that! But I wanted to have you look at that stamp set first. See those four green leaves going in all directions? That is one stamp set and it becomes the center point for building the rest of the bouquet. I thought it was four different stamps that I would have to mount, but not so. I stamped the leaves in Garden Green and then stamped three little sprigs between the green leaves in Pear Pizzaz and then stamped those little dots at the top of the sprigs in orange. The dots are also just one stamp that fits perfectly on the sprig and since the set is photopolymer you can see to line the dots up nicely. I stamped little yellow flowers at the top of the blank green stems and dotted the middle with a black marker. I stamped a large flower in Rich Razzleberry and punched it out then added Wink of Stella, mounted it with dimensionals in the very middle and put a yellow Happiness Blooms Enamel Dot in the center. A few copper sequins added a bit more sparkle (and covered a smudge)!

That makes me smile. The Happy Birthday is in the Little Ladybug set and the trellis border is in Thoughtful Blooms. I stamped the HB in Rich Razzleberry and the trellis in Soft Suede.

It looks like the first one is saying to the others: “Look at me, I can stand on one leg!” The third one gets tricky and says “Look at me, I can roll over!”

Vibrant Vases Tri-fold card

It probably won’t be morning by the time you get this post in your mailbox but currently it is still morning in Karen’s World!
Don’t you mean Stampalosopher? Karen’s World was your accounting firm.
Yes, indeed, it is a Stampalosopher World! Today I have one of two cards to show you that I created for a stint as a guest presenter in Grand Junction. The first was inspired by Joy Meadows and the very lovely card she sent for my birthday. Thank you, Joy!
Do you see how the front right hand flap is exactly the same size as the left side white layer with the same size black border? So cool! The white flaps inside and out are 3″ X 3 1/2″ with a black border of 3 1/8″ X 3 5/8″. The paper is from the SAB (Sale A Bration) Botanical Butterfly DSP (Designer Series Paper). One side had butterflies and the other had black and white designs like the dots Joy used here. I hope you stocked up on this paper during SAB! Her base is 9 7/8″ X 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/8″ and 8 3/8″ . This leaves a right hand flap of 1 1/2″. The butterfly is from the Butterfly Gala stamp set which is still current and has a punch to match. See page 46 of the Annual Catalog.
But Karen, you can’t use retired Designer Series Paper!
I know, Sal, so I chose to use the Vibrant Vases and the Pressed Petals DSP with an accent color of Blueberry Bushel, one of the 2018-2020 In Colors that I will definitely need to stock up on before it retires next June.
Don’t you love the Pressed Petals DSP with the Blueberry Bushel? There is even a sheet of the DSP with plain burlap that I used for the right side little panel to coordinate with the background of the pressed petals.
And the Pressed Petals is part of the current “Buy 3 packs of DSP and Get One Free”!

I used the Flourishing Phrases stamp set for the sentiments on the flap and the left side of the card and left the inside blank for a birthday, congratulations or just thinking of you sentiment. I needed a little larger flap than what Joy used for the butterflies so the measurements won’t be the same. The goal was to have the outside vases a bit plain with the inside vase truly “vibrant” to match the sentiments. The Vibrant Vases stamp set is a two-step stamp set with outline stamps for the vases and then a stamp-to-color for each vase and it even has a punch to match! Check out page 61 of the Annual Catalog. The yellowed images show what images are punchable. (Is that a word?)
I stamped the outside vases with the border stamps in Soft Suede and then stamped again with the stamp-to-color stamps after stamping off to lighten the image. I used the “H” acrylic block and spaced out the three vases and stamped with the outline stamps on a 6 X 3 piece of Whisper White. I then placed the (clean) stamp-to-color stamps on top of the images and took another “H” acrylic block and pressed it down on the stamps to attach them to the blocks in the perfect position. The stamparatus would have worked better but it was in use for the other card.

Thanks Sal. That might be a good idea for the next time. To make the inside vase truly “vibrant”, I stamped it in Blueberry Bushel, colored in the diamonds with Cajun Craze and Daffodil Delight regular markers and then took my Versa Mark ink and inked the entire image. I applied “Clear Embossing Powder” and then heated it to make the vase look like glass.
Stamp the greenery and flowers directly on the Very Vanilla card stock pieces – the flap for the outside and the Pretty Label punched piece for the left hand side. Adhere the vases directly to the paper since they are punched out and look 3D without dimensionals. I adhered the two larger vases close enough together so that I could adhere the middle little vase slightly on top of the larger ones and all three would fit on the 2″ shelf that was cut from Early Espresso card stock to a final size of 2″ X 1/4″ with the “Be Mine” stitched framelits. Hint: Start with a larger piece of Early Espresso and cut the scallop edge with the framelit and then place it in the Stampin’ Trimmer to cut to the 1/4″ shelf size. I cut a piece longer than the desired 2″ so I could cut exactly 1/2 of a scallop at each edge of the shelf.
She told me she was a “recovering perfectionist”! Maybe she needs more therapy. SHHHH……

The shelf is adhered with the top of the shelf 1 1/4″ from the bottom of the Very Vanilla layer and 3/8″ over from the left and right sides. Stamp the greeting in Blueberry Bushel under the shelf.
It can be tricky to stamp the greenery at the right spot for the vases so stamp your vases and punch them out then trim off the bottom white edge of the vases. Punches generally leave a little edge all the way around the image just like what we teach in fussing cutting. You want the vases to sit directly on the shelf so trim off that bottom edge.
Temporarily place your vases where you want them on the shelf and use a pencil to lightly outline the top of each vase. Now make three more light pencil marks where you want your stem to attach to the tulip. The tulip is 3/8″. Vary the heights of the three tulips. Use a sticky note to mask the shelf and where the vases will be and stamp the stem and greenery in Old Olive. Then stamp the tulips in Cajun Craze and stamp-to-color in Daffodil Delight. I had a shadow on one of my leaves so I just hand drew another leaf to utilize the shadow.
Sheri always called that “Design Opportunity”!
That she did! And that it is! We sometimes use tiny butterflies or hearts to cover our shadows and it adds beauty to the card. I just ordered erasers from Amazon that are supposed to remove ink without damaging the paper. I will let you know if they work.
A Stitched Labels Die is used for the little greeting that says “so he made you” and the fancy die in that same set is used for the DSP cutout on the left side. The Pretty Label punch is used for the vase and flowers on the left side. This is one of those times when you want to punch first and then stamp so you can align the flowers and vase on the punched piece. Use the same procedure of placing the vase temporarily on the piece, lightly draw the top of the vase, mask with a sticky note and stamp the flowers with Memento Black ink, then adhere the vase, color the flowers in Daffodil Delight and the greenery in Garden Green. Adhere rhinestones colored with Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends. Sponge the edge of the Pretty Label punched piece and the little rectangle greeting with Blueberry Bushel and pop up both pieces with dimensionals.
Summary:

Second Layer on left side and middle: Pressed Petals DSP (make 2) 3 5/8″ X 5″ ; Cut out the center of the inside DSP layer with the Stitched Shapes Die- the fancy one. Use the cut out for the left side behind the Pretty Label punched piece.
Third Layer on left side and the flap for the front: Blueberry Bushel (make 2) 3 1/8″ X 4″. The left side 3rd layer is adhered 1/2″ down from the edge of the DSP and 1/4″ over from the edge of the DSP.
Fourth Layer on left side and the front flap: Very Vanilla (make 2) 2 7/8″ X 3 3/4″
Little Right side first layer: Blueberry Bushel, 1 1/4″ X 5 1/4″.
Little Right side second layer: DSP in plain burlap 1″ X 5″
The Blueberry Bushel Front Flap is adhered 1/2″ down from the burlap DSP on the little right side to exactly match the left side. This is done last! I put two pieces of tear and tape at the far right of the flap and then matched up the flap to the card’s left side and pressed it in place.
Shelf: Early Espresso, 4″ X 4″ Cut to 2″ X 1/4″ with the Be Mine Scalloped framelit and the Stampin’ Trimmer
Vases: Very Vanilla, Use the leftover from cutting the base or a 6″ X 3″
Punched Label: Very Vanilla 2″ X 2 3/4″
Left side greeting and the left side vase: 1 1/2″ X 3 3/4″ , you need it large enough to be able to hold it as you punch the vase. Stamp the greeting on the same piece and cut with the Little Stitched Labels Framelit.
I remember you looking at that little Die and saying it was too little to use for anything.
I did say that! Amazing isn’t it?! I am glad I have that set. I used two of the Dies on this card. I love the one I call the “fancy” Stitched Label Die!

Steps:
- Adhere DSP to front at left of 1/2″ tab with 1/8″ border
- Die cut the vellum cupcake ‘glass’ cover
- Die cut the shimmer white cupcake base plate
- Use 1 1/4″ circle punch and punch the front layers and back layer of the card at the top in the middle
- Make one vertical cut 1 1/4″ to the left of 8″ score line- 1″ from top & 1 3/8″ from bottom, you don’t need a cut on the other side. Note: The cupcake is not centered on the front since the mechanism needs to slide on the right and the cupcake needs to be behind the vellum. We made the mistake of trying to center it with our first cut. It is almost invisible in the picture.
- Place a dimensional on the right front side of the Thick Whisper White 3/4″ slider mechanism and run the slider through the slot front side to back side at the very bottom of the slit. Turn the card over and hold the mechanism straight by placing a sticky note on it, sticking it to the back of the card. Place two pieces of sticky tape on the 3/4″ slider which will glue to the white insert later.
- Cut the banner and use the Stamparatus to position the “Celebrate” in the middle of the banner. Mask off the “your day” part of the stamp, ink in Melon Mambo, remove the mask and stamp. (Or color ‘Celebrate’ with a marker). We were doing multiple cards so I drew around the banner with a pencil on a piece of stamparatus grid sheet to help with the placement.
- Glue the cupcake plate at the bottom of the front at the end of the slit. It is 1/4″ from the bottom so you have 1/8″ DSP border and the Balmy Blue 1/8″ border.
- Glue the ‘Celebrate’ banner to the bottom of the vellum cover. Work the vellum with your fingers to make it have a slight curl then remove the backing of the dimensional on the slider mechanism and adhere the cover to the slider mechanism.
- Now position the Whisper White insert on the Stamparatus so that the “Your Day” part of the stamp will stamp 3/4″ down on the left side, mask off the “celebrate”, ink in Melon Mambo, remove the mask and stamp. (Or color ‘Your Day’ with a marker).
- Punch out the blue circle for the pull and score it in half. Adhere it to the middle of the insert and punch a little hole with the 1/8″ hand held punch for the ribbon. Attach the ribbon.
- Remove the backing of the tear and tape of the slider mechanism and position the Whisper White insert to attach to the mechanism.
- Stamp and die cut three little flowers with Melon Mambo. Color with Wink of Stella. Adhere with glue dots and place a rhinestone on the two flowers in the front.
- Add sequins and color the icing with the Wink of Stella.
- Now you can put tear and tape on the 1/2″ tab at the right of the front and adhere the front to the back.
I hope many of you purchased this stamp and framelit set! I want to do a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting next! What is your favorite flavor?

Lilypad Lake, Waterfront and Holiday Home
Hello Stamping Friends,
So what have I been making? I have two cards that just beg to have a video to showcase them but I found out I needed a lapel mike, a C boom arm and a couple more lights. I will keep working at it. I wish I had a picture of our first attempt at the video. It was hilarious. We put a chair on the table and the tripod through the chair so the camera was directly over my work but alas everything was upside down and nothing in the camera manual showed how we could invert the video. Sigh…… Stay tuned, it will happen yet!
Lilypad Lake, High Tide and Waterfront Birthday Card
The ‘Lilypad Lake’ framelits cut out the waves and the sailboats; ‘High Tide’ gives us the birds and the sun. The inside is the ‘Waterfront’ stamp set with its watercolor look. I made another card using the retired ‘Holiday Home’ with the watercolor mountains in the background. The inside uses a greeting from ‘Beautiful You’ and a watercolor Colorado pine tree look with the ‘Waterfront’ stamp set! The ‘High Tide’ set provides the birds again!

Tranquil Tulips
Hello Stamping Friends,
Spring has been gorgeous in Castle Rock this year! Usually our lilac buds get frozen with a spring cold front and we miss out on the beautiful blossoms. Not this year! They are fabulous and I didn’t even have to run out and cover the bushes with a sheet. We have several little yellow finch friends to entertain us as well. One flower I have never had much luck with is the tulip. The green stem will pop out of the ground but seldom produce a flower. So let’s make a paper tulip card!
These tulips have amazing art work built in to the stamps- white stripes on the blossoms, leaves with shades of green and a stamp for the middle.
I suppose with three grandsons I will get used to bugs in a jar but I would rather fill a jar with strawberries or flowers! I cased the layout of the tulips from someone on pinterest but made the bottom a flower box and added the ladybug and butterfly. I stamped the three butterflies on vellum and then rubbed the back of the circles on the butterfly’s wings with my stylus on the foam pad to make them bright white, then colored the back with my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends marker. I was making six of these cards so I folded the wings of the two larger butterflies for a 3D effect like this:
I used many retiring items that you can still purchase for the next five days. The base of the card is Elegant Eggplant with a Rose Red layer. The tulips are Elegant Eggplant, Rose Red, and Perfect Plum with Wild Wasabi for leaves – all are retiring colors.
The label I used to create the stand for the Easel card is from the Label Me Pretty stamp set. 
The “Thank You” comes from another retiring set “Swan Lake” .
Check out that cute little dragonfly! This set has so much potential and makes me feel peaceful just looking at the images. Another of the ‘Label Me Pretty’ images:
The “Love You” is from the ‘Banners for You’ stamp set….. I put a sticky note over the ‘I’ in the greeting, inked, removed the sticky and stamped. I liked the little dots on the stamp set but used a marker to make them bigger and added a few extra dots of my own. For both these greetings I punched a 1 3/4″ circle from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper to match the flower box. I popped up both the greeting and the circle to have a nice tall easel holder. I tried out the third stamp with all the flowers around the Happy Birthday. I first stamped and colored the image but it lost too much detail so I colored the back of my stamp with regular markers, huffed on the colored stamp, and then came up with an image with more detail that I popped up on an oval cut out in the wood:
Did you notice the Versa Mark images on the sides of the popped up greetings? I used the hearts from the Ronald McDonald set to stamp around the birthday greeting since it is going to my daughter. For the others I used tulip images from the ‘Lovely Wishes’ stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.
I recently attended a Mile High Stamp Camp with amazing Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. I wish I remembered the name of the lady who designed this card using the ‘Lovely Wishes’ set:
I needed a sympathy card so I took her design and used the ‘Petitie Pairs’ stamp set from the past for a tiny greeting to fit between the flowers. I have the old Ovals set so I sponged the edge to get the same look as the ‘Layering Oval’ set used above.
The layering ovals, squares and circles carry over in to the new catalog. I didn’t think I wanted the ‘Ruffled Embossing Folder’ used here until I actually used it in the stamp camp. It is unique and not just for shingles on a house like I imagined and it carrys over. Five embossing folders are retiring but the one that I will miss the most is the ‘Brick Wall’ embossing folder. Remember this card from the past?
Let’s not think fall, let’s think spring and graduation! I needed a graduation card so I used the retiring ‘Marquee Messages’ set and a graduation cap stamp from a previous Paper Pumpkin. There are fun confetti products in the “other” store that you could use for the graduation caps:

And if you need a unique gift box for that special graduate’s gift card, I suggest the Window Box Thinlits dies #142762 topped with a square piece of cardstock, 4″X4″ and a tassle made from our solid black baker’s twine and a 1/2″ punched black circle glued on a large brad. We have a ‘Mini Tassels Assortment’ you can purchase and then dip in a bowl of reinker to make just the right color. Yes, it is retiring as well.
You would need the longer ones for the box above but these would be cute on a card front with a punched cap.
I can’t leave today’s ultra-long post without sharing three other cards. In the last post I showed my favorite retiring stamp set in use on an Eclipse card. Have you ever been on a hot air balloon ride? My Son In Law, Jonathan (Bud), gave Paul and I a ride for my birthday a couple of years ago and it was phenomenal! He has been a balloon pilot for Wild West Balloon Adventures in Steamboat Springs, Colorado for years.
With a balloon pilot in the family, the Lift Me Up stamp set with matching thinlits was a must have for me. Today I will feature the Party Pandas stamp set:
I saw this card setup on stampsnlingers.com with the pandas and balloon, then changed the designer series paper and the balloon and the circles and added hearts; so I guess this is a CASE that is copy and selectively edit instead of copy and share everything! What I would recommend with this stamp set is doing what I did here with the panda’s eyes to make them friendlier. I used a white gel pen to increase the size of the whites and then made a bigger black dot in the middle of the white. I thought the eyes were too beady. Can you tell a difference?
The Designer Series Paper is Pop of Pink.
- Base of the card: Melon Mambo 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″ Scored at 4 1/4″
- 1st Layer: Whisper White 4″ X 5 1/4″ make two so you have one for the inside
- Top Layer: Designer Series Paper (DSP) 3 3/4″ X 5″
- From the DSP punch a balloon for the inside – Balloon Bouquet Punch #140609, page 207
- From a scrap of Melon Mambo punch a balloon for the front, sponge the edges and use a white gel pen for the line
- With the Big Shot, cut two Melon Mambo 1 7/8″ Stitched Shape Circle Framelits and two Whisper White same size
- Melon Mambo 4 x 4 and Whisper White 4 x 4 needed for the circles, they are offset and pink on white then white on pink
- Whisper White 2 1/2″ X 4″ for stamping the two pandas with Tuxedo black, color the circles in the hat and then fussy cut
- Stamp Happy Birthday on Whisper White Scrap and cut with the Bunch of Banners framelit
- The hearts are from the Brights Enamel Shapes on page 196 of the Annual Catalog #141680
- The Baker’s Twine I used is retired but there is solid white #124262 or black and white striped #134576 on page 199. Trick: to adhere your Baker’s Twine, position the twine, put a small dab of liquid Tombow on a scrap of paper, slightly lift the twine and slide the scrap with the glue under the twine, let the twine absorb a little glue then remove the scrap. No mess!
- Melon Mambo Marker and Black Marker were used to add a little line on the balloon to look like a tie from the twine
- The inside greeting comes from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set, the confetti is from Party Pandas
