Bird House Fancy Fold
Hello Stamping Friends,
What a wonderful summer it has been as we traveled to Yellowstone and camped at the base of the Grand Tetons and then traveled to a wedding shower and traveled again for the wedding celebration and traveled to be the guest presenter at a Stamp A Stack. Whew….. it is good to be home. The yard is glad we are home as well.
Amid all the traveling I even had club here in Castle Rock!
I love most all things “bird” and fell in love with the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper (DSP), so for club we made a Bird House fancy fold card. I made a second one for my husband so I will show both.
The card on the left uses current Stampin’ Up! products whereas the one on the right uses two punches for the roof that are retired.
The fold is a fun diagonal fold and I cut the inside whisper white layer to have a matching angle so I could use one of the larger birds on top of the heart. Here is a close up:
The roof has three layers of scallops cut from the ‘Stitched Labels’ framelits, a ‘Flourish Thinlit’ strip cut out and then cut right down the middle and mounted on two strips of blue mitered at the top to make the gables. Part of a flourish from the ‘Be Mine Stitched Framelits’ and a little heart from ‘Stitched Labels’ was used. A 1″ punched circle of soft suede is sponged and popped up behind the heart cut out. Sponging is added to give depth to the Soft Suede and a rhinestone is added for a little sparkle:
The dimensions will be below but let’s compare the other card and some of the differences on it:
Aren’t those birds just the cutest!! TIP: When fussy cutting your birds and flowers do not cut clear into the legs or the branches, just use Stampin’ Blends or markers that match the background and color the small areas to match. This keeps the cut out image stronger and it is not noticeable. I used soft suede between the legs of the bird that was over the circle and Balmy Blue for between the legs that were outside of the circle. Can you tell? Hmmm.. I think I will go back and color all the edges on the cut out bird on the first card instead of leaving a little white like I have trained myself to do in fussy cutting.
The gables are from the retired ‘Dotted Scallop Punch’ and the scallops are from a retired ‘Scallop Punch but – –
The ‘hello’ sign is still current in the ‘Barn Door’ stamp set and has framelits to cut it out in the ‘Sliding Door’ framelits. We have used this set multiple times so it is a must for a stamp collection. I stamped the sign once in Soft Suede and once in Flirty Flamingo and then cut out just the hello of the Flirty Flamingo and popped it up.
I used the ‘Crackle Paint’ stamp on both cards but on the second card I scored and folded the card and then ran it through the Big Shot with the current ‘Pinewood Planks 3D’ embossing folder.
What a different look! You could run the front and back through the Big Shot separately if you didn’t want the middle fold to have different directions on the wood look.
I did a straight cut on the top of the Whisper White inside layer instead of angles like the first card. Here is a close up:
TIP: With cards like these that don’t stand up nicely by themselves I like to make a CARD STAND 3 3/4″ X 2 1/2″ scored and folded 1/4″ on each end of the long end.
Dimensions and supplies used:
Card Base: 10 3/4″ X 3 3/4″ Score at 5 3/8″
-Mark 3 3/8″ from each end on both sides and score diagonally
-Make the birdhouse hole by laying the smallest of the Stitched Shapes Circle Framelits 1 1/16″ from the edge of the framelit to the edge of the bottom and the right and left sides. Cut and then sponge the edge with Balmy Blue.
-Mask the back of the card base and stamp the front with the Crackle Stamp in Balmy Blue. Run through the Big Shot with the Pinewood Planks embossing Folder if desired.
Roof: Soft Suede 3″ square cut in half.
-Roof Scallops: (3) Soft Suede 6″ X 1/2″ cut with the ‘Be Mine Stitched Framelit’ and then cut to 4 1/4″ X 1 1/4″ . I found it easier to cut it wide and then trim to 1/4″ wide by laying the large part of scallop at 3/8″ on the trimmer. Sponge the edges of each. Offset your rounded part of the scallop with the previous indent of the scallop as you layer them.
-Once the scallops are adhered you can cut the little heart using the ‘Stitched Labels’ tiny heart.
-Circle behind the heart: punch 1″ of Soft Suede and sponge it deeply then pop it up behind the heart.
Pop up the roof with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the card base.
Gables: (2) 1/4″ X 3 1/2″ Balmy Blue strips mitered for top. Tip: Lay the strips on top of each other and cut through both at the same time to have a nice mitered edge or make a 45 degree cut at each end by lining up at 1/2 of a square on the Stampin’ Trimmer.
Gable Decoration: (1) 5 1/4″ X 3/4″ Soft Suede cut with the ‘Flourish Thinlits Die’ and then cut straight down the middle to make one for each side. Glue the Soft Suede on the Balmy Blue strips and pop up the gables on the top of the roof with its scallops.
Scrap of Balmy Blue: Cut out the flourish from ‘Be Mine’ stitched framelits. It has five branches and I cut off the outer two so it fit at the top of the roof. Add a rhinestone.
Scrap of Whisper White 1 1/2″ X 1″ stamped in Flirty Flamingo with “Hello” from Fourishing Phrases and punched with a small oval punch -retired- but we have the layering ovals that would work great. Sponge the edge with your Flirty Flamingo.
Fussy cut your bird from the Bird Ballad DSP and mount with dimensionals.
Inside: Whisper White: 5″ X 3 1/2″. Lightly pencil mark 3 1/4″ from bottom of the right and left and mark the top middle at 1 3/4″ and then diagonally cut from the sides to the middle. Or make a 3 1/2″ X 3 1/4″ rectangle if you don’t want the angled top.
For the inside I used Flourishing Phrases for the greetings and created a mask to sponge the heart by cutting out of a sticky note the third largest of the scalloped hearts in the Be Mine stitched framelits dies. You could use printer paper if you don’t have a large sticky note just be sure to use washi tape to hold it in place while you sponge the heart to the desired color. I fussy cut another bird and flowers to go around the heart and positioned them so they wouldn’t show through the front entrance but you could have a bird peeking out of the entrance for fun as one of my club members chose to do. It was cute.
Embellish with rhinestones! Send to your favorite bird lover or to your lover as I did with the second one which uses the “I love our life together” from the ‘Meant To Be’ Stamp set.

Let It Ride Z Fold

I have one more card to post from my April card class. This one uses the Let It Ride stamp set and is a case of Kim Baker at www.kims-kreative-korner.blogspot.com.
Stamps: Let It Ride, High Tide (birds), Barn Door, Crackle Paint
Tools: Sliding Door Framelits Dies, Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder,
Inks: Tuxedo Black, Crumb Cake, Garden Green, Soft Sky Blue
Stampin’ Blends: Dark & Light Soft Suede, Light Smoky Slate (hooves)
Special Technique: Sponging with saran wrap. I wadded up a piece of saran wrap and put it in one of those big black desk clips. I masked off the separation between sky and meadow and masked off the horse. I stamped the sky, changed saran wrap and switched the mask on the meadow to the sky and then stamped the meadow in green. It gave the card a textured sort of sponging and took much less time. Looks a lot like grass don’t you think?!
I used the Stamparatus to stamp the horse (and needed it) so I could stamp a second time and press a little extra on the mane. I triple stamped the trees using the Stamparatus so they would be a deep green and then moved the hinge on the Stamparatus and did a couple of shadow stamps to create a forest.
Dimensions: Note – the layers are flush to the bottom
- Crumb Cake: 11″ X 4 1/4″, Score at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″; Make a pencil mark 2 1/8″ down at the left hand side of the front and cut diagonally from that mark to the 2 3/4″ score line
- Real Red: 5 3/8″ X 4 1/8″, Score at 2 5/8″; Make a pencil mark 2 1/16″ down on the left hand side of the front and cut diagonally from the mark to 2 5/8″ score line. Emboss with the Pinewood Plank embossing folder
- Very Vanilla: 5 5/16″ (5 1/4 + 1/16″) X 4 1/8″
- Crumb Cake: 3″ X 4″ for the gate; stamp and cut the entire barn door then cut in half
- Black Scrap: 2″ X 2″ for hardware on the door
- Red Strip: 5/8″ X 2 1/2″, emboss with the Pinewood Plank, roll the paper with your fingers to create the look of the front of a post, place an adhesive dimensional strip down the middle to adhere; adhere a bit down from the top so you don’t see the adhesive.
Stamp your name on the back and send to your favorite horse lover!

Steps:
- Adhere DSP to front at left of 1/2″ tab with 1/8″ border
- Die cut the vellum cupcake ‘glass’ cover
- Die cut the shimmer white cupcake base plate
- Use 1 1/4″ circle punch and punch the front layers and back layer of the card at the top in the middle
- Make one vertical cut 1 1/4″ to the left of 8″ score line- 1″ from top & 1 3/8″ from bottom, you don’t need a cut on the other side. Note: The cupcake is not centered on the front since the mechanism needs to slide on the right and the cupcake needs to be behind the vellum. We made the mistake of trying to center it with our first cut. It is almost invisible in the picture.
- Place a dimensional on the right front side of the Thick Whisper White 3/4″ slider mechanism and run the slider through the slot front side to back side at the very bottom of the slit. Turn the card over and hold the mechanism straight by placing a sticky note on it, sticking it to the back of the card. Place two pieces of sticky tape on the 3/4″ slider which will glue to the white insert later.
- Cut the banner and use the Stamparatus to position the “Celebrate” in the middle of the banner. Mask off the “your day” part of the stamp, ink in Melon Mambo, remove the mask and stamp. (Or color ‘Celebrate’ with a marker). We were doing multiple cards so I drew around the banner with a pencil on a piece of stamparatus grid sheet to help with the placement.
- Glue the cupcake plate at the bottom of the front at the end of the slit. It is 1/4″ from the bottom so you have 1/8″ DSP border and the Balmy Blue 1/8″ border.
- Glue the ‘Celebrate’ banner to the bottom of the vellum cover. Work the vellum with your fingers to make it have a slight curl then remove the backing of the dimensional on the slider mechanism and adhere the cover to the slider mechanism.
- Now position the Whisper White insert on the Stamparatus so that the “Your Day” part of the stamp will stamp 3/4″ down on the left side, mask off the “celebrate”, ink in Melon Mambo, remove the mask and stamp. (Or color ‘Your Day’ with a marker).
- Punch out the blue circle for the pull and score it in half. Adhere it to the middle of the insert and punch a little hole with the 1/8″ hand held punch for the ribbon. Attach the ribbon.
- Remove the backing of the tear and tape of the slider mechanism and position the Whisper White insert to attach to the mechanism.
- Stamp and die cut three little flowers with Melon Mambo. Color with Wink of Stella. Adhere with glue dots and place a rhinestone on the two flowers in the front.
- Add sequins and color the icing with the Wink of Stella.
- Now you can put tear and tape on the 1/2″ tab at the right of the front and adhere the front to the back.

Beauty Abounds And Butterfly Beauty

I have some fun cards today using the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits and the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set. These two sets carry into the new catalog but if you get them now you will get a 10% bundle discount, #150617. See them on page 13 of the Occasions catalog.
Before we get into the club card I want to show you The Vertical Greetings stamp set that I used for the Thank You notes. It is being retired:
I have used this set more times than I can count. In today’s thank you cards I didn’t want to cover up the beautiful butterflies but there was just enough room to do a vertical greeting.
Let’s start with the card I did for my card class:
The little ‘hello’ in the Beauty Abounds stamp set fit right between the butterflies. I stamped the hello in Versa Mark ink and embossed it with black embossing powder and then punched it out. I held the butterflies in place- without adhering them- to determine where to place the hello, being careful that the butterflies didn’t go outside the card.
Note: the double sided adhesive sheets are being retired, #144106, so stock up now. I used a sheet to adhere the top layer of the butterfly to the bottom layer. I put a 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″ piece of the adhesive on the back of the Gorgeous Grape cardstock of the same size before running it through the Big Shot. After you cut out the butterflies and pull off the adhesive backing sheet, save it! It is shiny and beautiful. I used it on the thank you cards you will see in a minute.
There is a large stamp in the Beauty Abounds set with six bokeh dots and a smaller one with four bokeh dots. I used both and stamped them with Highland Heather. I stamped the dots with Gorgeous Grape. It is amazing how SU can make stamps that get several different shades of color with just one stamp. I didn’t have to do any masking or coloring- it was all in the stamp!
It was a little tedious to put dimensionals on all the butterflies but so worth the effort! These are the small dimensionals with a strip cut from the edge of the dimensionals sheet to put in the middle.
On the inside I stamped another set of bokeh dots in Highland Heather and two of the little butterflies from the same Beauty Abounds set in Gorgeous Grape.

The little butterflies have thinlits to cut them out and Stampin’ Up! has heard our frustrations with the time it takes when we want multiples of a cutout so they are making dies with several duplicates to save us time:

After the card class I had leftover cutouts as well as the adhesive sheet backings and I wanted to use them for my thank you cards. I chose Flirty Flamingo for another cutout and black for some of the backings. From a past catalog I had purchased Calypso Coral embossing powder and it matched the Flirty Flamingo card stock so I used it and ‘Vertical Greetings’ to emboss the thank you on the purple layers. (I showed that set first since I really don’t want you to miss having it in your collection.) I colored the wings with the clear Wink of Stella and adhered Iridescent Sequins, # 144212, for even more sparkle.
In this card I stamped the wing cutouts with the little dot stamp and then did a bit of paper piecing to make the wings.
I wish you could see how the Wink of Stella makes it look like black glimmer paper was used! The Share What You Love Artisan Pearls were used and they, too, are retiring, #146927.

Wonderful Romance Thinking of You

If you are not into fancy folds like the prior posts’ bendi card, this card with its beautiful vellum designer paper might be what you are looking to make. The bouquet of flowers has a framelit to cut it out and there is a framelit to cut the beautiful leafy edge. The ‘Thinking of You’ greeting fits perfectly on one of the stitched rectangle framelits and the Frosted Flower Embellishment with a rhinestone in the middle dresses it up.
Base: Fresh Fig, 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″, Score at 4 1/4″. Cut a piece of copy paper 2 5/8″ X 5 1/2″ and place it on the front with a sticky note so you can line up your leaf edge framelit along the copy paper edge to make sure your leaf edge is cut straight. There is a lot of stress on the Big Shot to cut the leaf edge all at once so the cranking seems hard but it worked and I ran it back and forth several times to get a good cut.
Powder Pink Inside Layer: 4 1/8″ X 5 3/8″
Pear Pizzaz: 2 3/8″ X 5 3/8″
Whisper White: 2 3/16″ X 5 3/16″ This is the backing for your vellum. If you don’t have vellum adhesive, use tombow glue and a sponge to ‘paint’ the glue on the back of the vellum with the sponge and the glue will not show.
Floral Romance Designer Series Paper Vellum: 2 3/16″ X 5 3/16″
Greeting: Whisper White 2″ X 2 1/2″ stamped in Fresh Fig and cut with the stitched rectangle framelit.
Bouquet: Shimmer White 3 1/2″ X 4″ stamped in Memento Black and colored with Stampin’ Blends. The shimmer of the card stock even shows up in the picture! I used Dark Old Olive on the large leaves and Light Old Olive on the smaller leaves. Dark Pink Pirouette was used on the middle flower and the little buds to look similar to the vellum DSP. Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blends matched the Fresh Fig very well to color the other flowers. Rhinestones were put in the middle of the flowers and a bow was put on the base of the bouquet using the Old Olive Linen Thread.
This Wonderful Romance Stamp Set, the Wonderful Floral Framelits Dies, the Floral Romance DSP and the Old Olive Linen Thread all retire June 3rd. The products are on page 11 of the Occasions catalog and there is a bundle, #150592, that gives you 10% off if you buy the stamps and framelits together. I am sad to see these products go away. The Old Olive Linen Thread is on page 39, #148811. It is just a little finer than baker’s twine and dresses up any project.

Tea Together Bendi Card

May is zooming along and April projects are yet to be posted. To those of you waiting anxiously for some directions, thank you for your patience, and to those still looking for Mother’s Day inspiration I have a card or two that just might work.
I have seen several ‘Bendi Cards’ on Pinterest and when I saw Sara Levin’s Tea Together Bendi card I wanted to try it. She has a video at theartfulinker.com.
For those whose beloved mothers have passed away, the ‘Tea Together’ stamp set has an additional stamp that says “Love is a warm cup of tea”. A perfect saying for all those dear friends with whom we share a cup of tea and a listening ear!
Stamp Set: Tea Together, Amazing Life (for the corners on the back)
Designer Series Paper (DSP): Petal Promenade, Floral Romance, and Gold Foil Sheet
Dies: Tea Time Framelits (Pot and Cup), In The Woods (curves on the bendi arms), Be Mine Stitched Framelits (hearts), Sunshine Wishes ( Love), Celebrate You ( You). The club ladies also used the Happy Birthday framelit for an alternative saying.
Ink: Versa Mark, Old Olive
Tools: Gold Embossing Powder, Spritzer with Frost White Paint (Wink of Stella does the same), Tufted Embossing Folder,
Embellishments: 6″ of gold and white 1/8″ Tea Room ribbon
Card Base: Blushing Bride, 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″
Layer 1: Old Olive, 5 1/4″ X 4 1/8″ – note: this layer has a 1/8″ border on the top and sides but is flush to the bottom. Lay this piece landscape on the Stampin Trimmer at 1 1/2″ from the left and cut from 2″ to 3 5/8″ to make a tab for the bendi arm, then run through the Big Shot with the Tufted embossing folder. (Alternatively, you could make your large bendi arm with its tab and lay the tab 1 1/2″ from the left edge and place pencil marks on the old olive layer at the widest parts of the tab and then cut.)
Bendi Arms:
Old Olive, 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″ , Score at 1/2″ in landscape then turn to portrait and cut at 2 1/2″. You now have an arm that is 2 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ and an arm that is 1 3/4″ X 5 1/2″. The large arm is at the right side of the front and the small arm is at the left.
Place tear and tape on the 1/2″ scored section on the side that will wrap around the tufted old olive layer. This will help you keep from mixing up the arms. Oops, I mixed them up in the picture! The small arm goes to the left!
Score 3/8″ on the unscored side of the arms. Make a tab out of the 3/8″ scored edge by marking lightly with a pencil 1/2″ from the top and 1/2″ from the bottom of each arm. Fussy cut a tab on each arm by cutting a slight diagonal from the pencil mark to the edge of the arm. The larger arm will have a 1 1/2″ tab and the smaller arm will have a 3/4″ tab.
DSP for Bendi Arms: Petal Promenade 4 1/2 + 1/16″ (4 9/16″) X 1 3/4″ Small Arm, 4 1/2 + 1/16″ (4 9/16″) X 2 1/2″ for Large Arm. I know, I know, crazy measurements but we don’t want a green border where the small arm goes in to the large arm.
Cut both the DSP and the Bendi Arms at the same time to have a matching curve – the framelit will handle two layers. I used the curved die from the ‘In The Woods’ framelit set. Or fussy cut, making sure the curve on the small, left hand arm goes up at the right side where you will attach the teapot. If it is cut too narrow at the right side you won’t have room for the teapot above the cup. (yep-made that mistake!) Slide the DSP flush to the bottom of each arm giving you a border at the top and adhere. This picture shows the backside of the teapot and how important it is to curve up the bendi arm to give room to attach the teapot.
You have already made the slit for the large arm to slide into the Old Olive layer, now you need to make a slit in the large arm for the small arm to slide into. Lay the large arm on your stampin’ Trimmer at 2 1/2″ from the right edge (this includes the 1/2″ scored for the fold). Cut a slit from 1 1/4″ to 2″.
Work your two bendi arms into a curve with your fingers to break down the paper fibers so the arms curve easily.
Adhere the arms to the Old Olive layer. (Earlier you put tear and tape on the side that wraps around).
Now adhere the entire front to the Blushing Bride back. I used Tear and Tape for strength. Remember you do not have a bottom border, it is flush.
Teapot and Cup: Floral Romance DSP, 3 1/2″ X 12″ ; Stamp two pots and two cups with Old Olive ink. Cut with the framelits and then stamp with Versa Mark and gold emboss a large flower on the teapot and the small buds on the cups. I gold embossed both cups and both teapots so I could choose the best for the top. Spritz the cups and teapots or paint with Wink of Stella.
Teapot: Top layer has handle, base, lid cut off. Pop up on whole teapot with dimensionals.
Teacup: Top layer has handle, base, back of cup cut off. Pop up on the whole cup with dimensionals.
Both the teacup and the teapot are mounted on the small arm. Start by adhering the teacup 3/4″ from the left on the small bendi arm with glue dots. Now lay your bendi arms flat and mount the teapot on the top right edge of the arm tilting it to make sure no part goes outside the Blushing Bride layer so that it fits inside the envelope. Use a glue dot to put the hearts between the two layers of the tea cup and pull the tea cup handle in front of the teapot. The hearts are behind the teapot. Both the hearts and the teapot “float” with very little adhesive. Note the Dimensionals on the very bottom of the back of the teapot.
Embellish: Gold Foil, 2 1/2″ X 4″ Cut – love (Sunshine Wishes Framelit), – you (Celebrate You Framelit), and 9 hearts (on right hand side of Be Mine Stitched framelit). One of the punched out hearts was put between the words with a little bow underneath. The 9 open hearts are placed between the two layers of the cup to look like steam.
Embellish the back of the Blushing Bride with an Old Olive strip 7/8″ X 5 1/2″ and a Petal Promenade DSP strip 3/4″ X 5 1/2″. Use the corner stamps from the Amazing Life stamp set to make a nice corner with gold foil accent.
This special fold card is worth all the work when your mother or friend is astonished by your creation!!

What’s this? A Hidden Pot of Gold?

For club this month we made a St. Patrick’s Day card! It is a wiper card special fold and the pot of gold pops up out of the middle!
Let’s start by making a rainbow with our Stampin’ Up! markers. I tried blender pens and the alcohol Stampin’ Blends but was able to get the clearest image with the markers. I cut out an oval with a framelit and used the center of my grid paper to determine placement for the Whisper White cardstock. I went over 9 squares and down 9 squares and marked the oval with the placement line. ( I will list all the measurements at the end.)
Now place your cardstock on the grid paper and draw the first rainbow line holding the marker at a somewhat slanted angle – too much slant and your line will be too thick, too little slant and your line will be too thin. Use the thick end of the marker and let the curve of the oval guide your hand. Remember, this is a marker not a crayon so you don’t need to press hard. After the first line is drawn, move the oval up slightly to mask the first line and draw the next line. Continue for all seven colors. You will do ‘damage control’ at the end when you have completed all the rainbow lines by switching to the thin end of the marker and coloring in any missed bits or edges. I advise practicing once on the grid paper before doing the card. Clean the tips of your markers by tapping them off on the grid paper after each attempt. The oval will absorb the ink so use the other side of the oval after practicing, just be sure and cover your cardstock with sticky notes so the ink from the practice side of the oval doesn’t get on your cardstock. I tried a window sheet to see if that would keep the ink from bleeding but it wasn’t any better.
With your rainbow completed, run the cardstock through the Big Shot with the Subtle Embossing Folder.
For the greeting we will use the stamp from “Love What You Do” and the framelit from “Wonderful Floral”. The Stamparatus will let us stamp and then restamp until we have a perfect image. I placed the framelit on the paper to verify I had enough on each side of the greeting for the cutout- but be careful – those magnets love to grab framelits! Remember – stamp first – then cut!
After you have cut out the stamped greeting, use the negative space of the cutout to mark the cut for the gold glimmer paper. On the back of the glimmer paper draw around the cutout with a pencil and then fussy cut. You could cut out the glimmer paper with the framelit but then all those little rectangles on the side will have to be taped in place. Fussy cutting was easier for me.
Adhere the gold glimmer paper directly to the card front and then pop up the greeting. When adhering to glimmer paper glue dots work the best so place a glue dot on top of each dimensional. Since the glimmer paper is not a circle, be careful to line up your greeting before gluing down the glimmer paper.
That picture shows the beauty of the ‘Subtle’ embossing folder!
I needed a birthday card for my daughter so I colored the stamp with my marker leaving out ‘friend’ and then used the retired ‘Family Reunion’ stamp set which has a daughter stamp to stamp the middle of the greeting. Sticky notes worked better than the grid paper to align the ‘daughter’ stamp since you can see through the sticky note. (It took me more than once to get it aligned right so I threw away sticky notes instead of grid paper.)
I will square it up when I cut it out with the framelit and put a bling over the dot where the ‘i’ in friend was touched when I colored. Butterflies and bling fix most anything!
With the rainbow and greeting completed, let’s stamp! I wanted the images to be a rich shiny black so I embossed them and then cut them out. The Whisper White cardstock we used for the greeting has enough room for all with enough left over to cut out two lily pad flowers.
Let’s go to the Big Shot now and cut out our pieces. Cut two pots out of black using the retired ‘Cannery Set’ lid. The ‘Coffee Cup’ framelits has a lid that would work, too. Cut out the lily pad with the Hop Along framelits and nine hearts for shamrocks with the ‘Every Day Jar Framelits’. Use a 1/4″ circular punch, mine was just an office punch, and punch out three green circles for the back of the shamrocks and a dozen or so glimmer paper circles for the coins in the pot. Punch half circles out of the side of the glimmer paper to line the front edge of the pot so it looks like the coins are half way out of the pot.
Now the relaxing fun! Coloring! I used light and dark ‘Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends’ for the frogs. I colored their tummies and the dots with the light and then did two layers of the dark for the rest. The open mouth got a little ‘Blushing Bride Marker’, the lilies got a touch of Dark Daffodil Delight and the unicycle was colored in Light Smoky Slate with a Daffodil Delight seat. The bug was colored in Dark Highland Heather and Dark Daffodil Delight. The bees got a touch of Dark Daffodil Delight. The lily pad was sponged on the edge for extra depth. The two frogs and the purple bug were popped up. The lily pad, flower, bees and shamrocks were glued directly down.
To give your pot the illusion of a front edge, place your framelit on the pot and score around the edge then move the framelit up a bit and score again. Color black between the scored lines and use a Versa Mark pen to make it even darker.
I used the fine tip glue pen to place my first layer of half coins on the pot and to glue the coins that adhered directly to the black paper. When stacking the coins be sure and use glue dots so they will stick to the glimmer paper.
My first attempt at the shamrocks was with the fine tip glue pen but I didn’t like the result (shown here) so I used a glue dot on top of the 1/4″ circle and found it much easier to place the little hearts and have them stay in place. Cut just a little triangle out of the bottom of your 1/4″ circle if you don’t want it to show under the stem. I fussy cut little stems.
This picture shows the shamrocks with glue dots. Less mess and no shiny excess from the glue.
The front is adhered directly to the black layer and those two layers are popped up on a Garden Green layer but don’t glue it on the base until you have constructed the wiper.
Use your bone folder to fold the two score lines on the two base pieces in Z folds. Place the front to the back and check that you have the folds going the right way. It should look like this:
The front has the long portion on the right. Lay this face down on your grid sheet. The top is now at the bottom.
Line up your scored wiper piece with the bottom of the card (which is really the top when you stand it up). Place the diagonal of the scored portion on each edge of the second fold of the Z. Before adhering the wiper piece, bend the diagonal forward and backward a few times to exercise its movement! To score the wiper, place the square piece with a right angle at the 1/2″ of the right side of the Stampin’ Trimmer and the opposite right angle on the same line. I drew a pencil line to show you what I mean. Score- creating a little triangle on one corner.
You are going to glue only that little triangle to the cardstock. I tried tear and tape and it pulled off so I found ‘Tombow liquid glue’ worked well, you just have to hold it in place for a bit and be careful not to let the glue squish out. I like to put ‘Tombow’ on the piece I am gluing and then count to twenty before adhering so it doesn’t squish out. I did use ‘Tear and Tape’ on the front and back edges.
The pot is next! Glue the window sheet to the wiper piece and then glue the pot upside down to the other side of the window sheet at the very edge of the cardstock. Glue on your second pot to cover the window sheet.
Stand the front back up, line the edges of each side carefully, adhering the front to the back. Voila! You have made a wiper card!
Finish by gluing the Garden Green strip on the front side and stamping the back of the card. The greeting stamp used on the back is a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp but the four leaf clover is in the ‘Amazing Life’ stamp set. The ‘ Make A Difference’ stamp set has the alphabet in capitals and small letters so you could make ‘daughter’ or Happy St. Patrick’s day with that set.

Petal Promenade DSP, Friendship Pizza Boxes

Let’s look at some projects:
The Petal Promenade DSP is gorgeous with two sheets that can be cut to be card fronts like the piece shown here behind this Laser Cut paper. Both papers are available as a free Sale A Bration item. Both outside and inside greetings are from ‘Ribbon of Courage’, as well as the little heart. The roses in the corner are from the ‘Painted Glass’ stamp set and cut out with the ‘Stained Glass Thinlits Dies’.
Here is another project using the Petal Promenade DSP, a Pearlized Doily, and the Organdy Ribbon. The greeting is from ‘Guy Greetings’, the inside greeting is the ‘Forever Lovely’ stamp :
Pizza boxes make wonderful gifts that can be regifted. I made these pizza boxes for my “kit class” thank you gifts. I bought a cookie press and Lisa, bless her heart and her patience, helped me make little spritz cookies in flower and leaf shapes to go in the boxes. The greeting is from ‘A Big Thank You’ stamp set:
Besides the pizza box, this uses the ‘Share What You Love’ DSP which has foil accents on it. The Frosted Flower Embellishment is perfect with one of our little rhinestones fitting perfectly in the middle of the flower.

The Gingham Gala DSP was used for these thank you cards. There are four cards here for the sake of the picture, it isn’t a fancy fold of some kind. “Thank You for your endless love and support” is in the ‘Lasting Lily’ Sale A Bration stamp set. The butterflies are in the ‘Beauty Abounds’ stamp set and cut with the ‘Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies’. “Ever So Grateful” is in the ‘A Big Thank You’ stamp set.
Since I have a captive audience, or at least I am pretending I do, I will show you one more project using the ‘Share What You Love Embellishment Kit’:
I stamped on the vellum cutout from the front and it wasn’t as fuzzy as it looks here. Isn’t the tag from the kit unique?
I need to get more little cookies done to put in the pizza boxes so I will sign off for now.

Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies

I have great news! The Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies are in the Clearance Rack:

Even though the stamp set is not available the shaped and stitched framelits are great and we have many flower and leaf stamps that will work with the framelits. Even the little bell framelit could be cut out and drawn and colored in without having the stamp set.

This card uses designer series paper (DSP) in such a way that you see both sides of the paper. What a concept! You will want to remember these cuts when you have a DSP that you can’t decide which side to use because both sides are beautiful. Show off both sides like this!
- Base – Cajun Craze 5 1/4″ X 5 1/2″ Score the 5 1/4 side at 4 1/4″ making a 1″ flap
- DSP layer – Nature’s Poem DSP 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″ Adhere under the 1″ flap
- Frame – Cajun Craze – Largest Framelit – 5 1/2″ X 4″
- Top Frame – Whisper White – Medium Framelit – 4 1/2″ X 3 1/2″
- Front DSP Strip – 3/4″ X 5 1/4″
- Inside Layer – Whisper White – 4″ X 5 1/4″
- Inside DSP Strip – 1/2″ X 5 1/4″
The leaves and spots were stamped in Soft Suede Ink and the spots were overstamped in Crushed Curry. The leaves were colored with water color pencils and then blended with an aqua painter. The outside of the framelit was sponged with Cajun Craze and glitter enamel dots were added for sparkle. A double bow of linen thread ( 20″) completed the card.
Do you see how the framelits are just about the best shape since the retired Top Note Die?!
I thought I had missed the chance to post these cards when I didn’t get it done in August but thankfully the framelits popped up in the Clearance Rack.

Stamp the tree scene in Versa Mark, apply white embossing powder and heat. I used Tranquil Tide ink for the greeting and set up the Stamparatus so I could stamp it, reink and stamp again to get a nice dark image. I am loving this tool! Attach one side of the bridge to the very edge using double back tape and then fold over that side to apply the other side of the bridge to the opposite edge with your double back tape.
I see lots of potential for Christmas cards using our lovely Designer Series Paper. The birds could have a tiny ornament on a metallic thread hanging from their beaks. Hmmmm……. it’s fun to get in the design mode! I would love to see what bridge fold cards you make!
Stampin’ Up! had a special announcement for us at last week’s convention in Orlando. They are introducing “Cling Stamps” and they are no longer going to carry the wood stamps or the clear stamps as we used to know them. The cling stamps look just like the clear stamps with the nice red rubber and the labels all look the same – until you attach them. The label is made of a new product which clings really well to the blocks! No more putting two way glue on the back of our stamps! They warned us, though, that both sides are very “clingy” so you need to be extra careful in putting the label on since you won’t be able to pull it up and reposition it. Wood will still be used on the large background stamps, otherwise our options will be ‘cling’ or ‘photopolymer’.
They also had another announcement. They have a Stamparatus bag! It will be available for you to purchase December 5! It could be under the Christmas tree for you; just have that special someone call me and I will order it (secretly)!
