‘Sending You Thoughts’ and Kerchief Card Kit
Hello Stamping Friends,
The sun has returned in our beautiful Colorado after a very- windy -snowy- day yesterday! The clouds cleared and it was below zero last night but today looks to be gorgeous. I hope you are getting some sunshine. If not, better double up on those D vitamins! Even our little Ruger seeks out the sunshine!
What he really wants is a nice long walk outdoors!
That is for sure! If we don’t start walking soon we will both just be waddling!
Let’s move on to the Sale A Bration products I have to show you today. First is the Kerchief Card Kit which many of you earned free with a $50 purchase. It was one of my first selections. The kit has preprinted greetings but you can change them up as I have done here. The kit version without changes is on the left. I turned over the label that was in the kit and stamped it with a greeting from ‘Flourishing Phrases’, sponged the edge with Poppy Parade and added Terracotta Tile Faceted Dots. Aren’t the matching envelopes great?
For the Balmy Blue version I used the same ‘Flourishing Phrases’ greeting, cut a label from the Retired Lily Framelits Dies, sponged the edge in Balmy Blue and added a Noble Peacock Blue Rhinestone. The Pretty Label punch works well for the greeting and is still available.

And how far away is spring?March 20th is the first day of spring, Sal, so 24 days; but remember March is generally one of Colorado’s snowiest months so get ready to build more snowmen. My grandsons were here with Amber and building a snowman:

Too late! Let’s look at the ‘Sending You Thoughts’ set and how I used it to make a get well card and a birthday card. The greeting “Another sensational year of you” is in the ‘Sending You Thoughts’ stamp set. The base is Grapefruit Grove with a layer of Tufted 3D embossing on Whisper White and a bottom layer of Gingham DSP. The flowers and vase are from the ‘Vibrant Vases’ stamp set and stamped on Whisper White then cut with the Pretty Label punch, The edge of the label is sponged and then popped up on a doily. Rhinestones were added to the birthday card and Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots are added to the get well card with a tiny little bow for each from twine.
I am sad to have to send a get well card but delighted with the greetings in this set. Take a look:
- Base – Grapefruit Grove, 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
- Gingham Layer – Grapefruit Grove Gingham DSP, 1 3/4 X 5 1/4
- Tufted Layer – Whisper White 2 1/4 X 5 1/4 embossed with 3D Embossing Folder
- Inside Layer – Whisper White 5 1/4 X 4
- Strips for under the ribbon and inside – make 3 – 3/4 X 5 1/4 – use the backside for contrast on one
- Pretty Label Punch – Whisper White 3 X 2
Stamp the vase in Memento black ink, mask the vase, then stamp the flowers. Vibrant Vases is a fun stamp set that has two step stamping so you can stamp the main images and then use a second stamp to color each image. I used Grapefruit Grove for the coloring of the vase and flowers and Call Me Clover for the leaves. I sponged a little light grey at the base of the vase with a make up brush, a Q-tip would work nicely, too.
I wonder what it would look like with lots of different colored flowers and flowery DSP?
Lovely, I am sure, but I generally lean toward the monochromatic look.

Heirloom Frames Magnolia Birthday Card

Here in Castle Rock, CO we are getting another snow storm so our lawns should look awesome come spring! It makes for a wonderful day to create cards if you don’t have to punch a time clock!
At club this past month I actually had a quick and simple birthday card that took less than an hour to make but was stunning. Take a look:
Base: Petal Pink 4 1/4 X 11 scored at 5 1/2″
Layer: Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper (DSP): 4 1/8″ X 5 3/8″; Cut an oval from the middle of the DSP (use this cut out to cut in half for the inside). I used the Oval Stitched Shapes Framelits.
Frame: Whisper White 5 1/4 X 4 (make 2) Use the Heirloom Frames Die to cut an oval frame and then emboss the cut out frame with the matching Embossing Folder. The products come in a set so you get both the dies and the embossing folders in the set and the set includes both an oval frame and a square frame.
Sponge the frame ever so lightly with Petal Pink ink.
Adhere the Magnolia layer to the base after cutting out the oval center and then stamp the sentiment using the Painted Glass stamp set. By using the Stamparatus you can stamp it and then restamp it to get a nice dark black sentiment.
A magnolia flower with a bud is fussy cut from the DSP being careful to leave a nice edge of black around the flowers. Use a black marker to enhance the black border if needed. Adhere to the frame with glue dots and adhere to the pink oval with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
The ribbon is 6″ of 5/8″ Organdy Striped Ribbon in Petal Pink.
The inside sentiment is from the stamp set Stitched All Around.
Add a few Pearl Basic Jewels and you are done.

Yummy Christmas Gingerbread House and Cuckoo For You

I missed posting our September club cards and one is a Christmas card! Now that it is getting down to the wire for Christmas cards you might be looking for the details to this card you made “way back when”!
I cased Bronwyn Eastley with a gingerbread house box card.

Things I recommend doing differently:
- add strips of window sheets to the back of each pop up
- Make two of each pop up to put front and back so the back is prettier
- cut that little point on the bottom middle front and back just a tiny bit – not cutting in to the black line – so the box sits squarely
- Use the Bronze Stampin’ Blend for the gingerbread man and the deer for a darker brown
- Use puff paint for the snow
Cuckoo For You
With the ‘Yummy For Christmas’ and ‘Cuckoo For You’, we have two stamp sets that use the same set of dies!
Isn’t that so cool! The deer becomes a holly branch, the clock door becomes a gumdrop, the clock weight becomes a peppermint and the tree becomes a Christmas tree!
Christine Rohr posted a picture on Pinterest which used the Cuckoo For You and the Bird Ballad DSP. I cased and selectively edited it to come up with this card for club:
Push up on the little arrow and you see the little cuckoo bird!
Note: DSP means Designer Series Paper
- Base: Petal Pink 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 Scored at 4 1/4
- Layer 1: Bird Ballad DSP 5 1/4 X 4 Watch the direction on your DSP
- Strip of DSP for inside: 3/4 X 5 1/4
- Front Stitched Nested Label: Whisper White, 2nd largest label is 2 5/8 X 4 5/8 so start with 3 x 5 piece; emboss with the Subtle 3D embossing folder; then cut with the Stitched Nested Label. Use handheld hole punch to punch a hole on each side of the label for the ribbon. Mount the label 1″ down from top of base and 5/8″ from the sides of the base to the point of the Stitched Nested Label
- Ribbon: 1/4″ Copper Trim, 6″ , make two
- Clock and Parts: Whisper White 3 5/8 X 8 1/2; Stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black ink: clock, 2 pulls, 1 squirrel, 1 door; color with Stampin’ Blends: Old Olive on the vines, Bronze on the dots, roof-Dk Soft Suede, Clock Outline-Dk Balmy Blue, Pulls-Bronze & Dk Soft Suede, Squirrel – Bronze body, nut in Lt Suede, with a Dk Suede top, Door – Lt Suede, blue trim and be sure to cut off the white border of the door created when cutting with the framelit. Tip: When coloring with the alcohol markers in tiny areas just barely dot the area to color it. The ink spreads and you won’t be getting ink outside the lines.
- Mask the 2 flowers, the clock middle, the inside of door and sponge with Blushing Bride Ink.
- Clock Weight and clock hands: Copper Foil, 1 1/4 X 1 1/4. Stamp the clock weight in Versa Mark ink, emboss with copper powder and cut with the circle die. Cut the clock hands out of the foil and save the little pieces to use for the squirrel’s nose, the handle on the door, and the little dot right above the 12.
- Clock pull: left over from the Whisper White used for the clock and parts: cut one with the die. I used my Stamparatus to line up the lines with the arrows and the one word “cuckoo” so my stampers could easily stamp the images:
You stamp the arrow and lines image with the right side up and then stamp “cuckoo” on the back of the same piece. With the Stamparatus we could line up the one word “cuckoo” from the greeting “I’m Cuckoo About You” and didn’t even need to mask the edges. By using the grid sheet we can save it with the stamp set for the next time.
The odd looking die with a little heart on the top and the bottom is a piece that matches up with the hearts on the clock face to cut slots for the sliding mechanism in exactly the right places. There are YouTube videos using the two sliding mechanisms to make butterflies that “fly” and other fun tricks so the pieces are good for other applications.
Be careful to fold the score lines of the mechanism very straight so it slides nicely in the slots created by the second die. The slot is a little larger than the door -necessarily so- so that you can slide it in, but once it was in place, I cut two little strips of Whisper White and glued them to either side of the slot so the mechanism stayed straight.
Inside Layer: Whisper White 4 X 5 1/4 stamped in Soft Suede ink with the greetings in the “Special Celebrations” stamp set.
Front Greeting: Scrap of Whisper White run through the Big Shot part way with the Rectangle Stitched Framelit and then turned around and run through the other sider with the same Framelit to shorten it to just the right size for “Time To Celebrate”. I didn’t stop and made the whole Stitched Rectangle so I just ran it again to shorten it and then had a little piece left that was perfectly stitched that I used on this card:
My youngest granddaughter, Emma, was born on 9/24 at 7:12 AM. I moved the house over a bit, found some left over pink twine from a Paper Pumpkin, and stamped the date with one of the first photopolymer stamp sets made by Stampin’ Up!
The inside uses the “New Wonders” stamp set and a template of the ‘1’ cut out of cardstock and then sponged with Blushing Bride Ink. The fairies are colored to match the DSP with white and blue like the flowers and green like the vines. This card will be hard to top when birthday #2 comes around. My grandsons are turning 2 and 3 in the next few weeks and I will be working to make them something memorable. Do you think parents save hand made cards?

“All That You Are” Box Pop Up Card – most popular on Pinterest

Did you overlook the stamp set on the inside cover of the Occasions catalog? The flowers in this set are beautiful and the font on the greetings is lovely. Take a look see! (the blue means there is a framelit to cut it out):
I cased several people and watched FrenchieStamps.com do an inside pop up flower box.
Can you distinguish that cute little flower in the box? It would even look great as a focal point with one of the Vibrant Vases stamps. The crafters had a choice of three colors, Balmy Blue, Calypso Coral or Gorgeous Grape and they all turned out phenomenal! Pictures of those are after the recipe below.
Do you think I can talk Paul into putting on his tux and serving us appetizers throughout the event? Hmmmm….. it is a stretch. You will just have to come see for yourself!
Now back to that card I want to detail for you.
Stamp Set: All That You Are
Tools: Rectangle Stitched Framelits, Stamp A Ma Jig Sheet, Stamparatus
Card Base: Gorgeous Grape 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″ Scored at 4 1/4″
First Layer: Gingham Gala DSP in Highland Heather 4″ X 5 1/4″
Top Layer: Whisper White 3 3/4″ X 4 7/8″
Paper for stamping all the images to be cut out: Whisper White 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″, Stamp, color and fussy cut, except the greeting – it is cut with the stitched rectangle framelit:
- 1 medium flower
- 1 small flower, put a yellow center in the flower to match the rest of the flowers; if you don’t have a dot, punch a bit of yellow with a 1/8″ hole punch
- 4 single leaves – two for the front flower, two for the inside flower in the box
- 3 six leaf stems – Color outside the lines with your Stampin’ Blend and fussy cut to leave green around the black
- 1 multi flower stem
- Greeting – leave a 1 1/4″ X 1 3/4″ corner of the sheet to stamp Happy Birthday (or grab another scrap of white)
Window Sheet for mounting greenery: 1/4″ X 8″ Cut to length for each piece as you fill your box.
Stampin’ Blends – Highland Heather, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight
Embellishments: Ribbon 7″ X 2; I wrap one ribbon around the top layers, the white and the DSP, and then tie a bow with the other length and adhere with a glue dot. The bow holds the ribbon in place a bit better. It is the retired Sale A Bration organdy ribbon. If you attend the craft sale you might be able to buy some…. hint hint. I also used retired glitter enamel dots. New colors of glitter dots are in the catalog!
Inside Layer: Whisper White 5 1/4″ X 8″ Scored at 4″ but do NOT fold on the score line until after the images are stamped on the left first and then the right hand side of the score line. You need the score line for positioning the stamp.
Box: Whisper White 2″ X 8″; Score at 2″ – 4″ – 6″; Use your cutter and shave 1/16″ off each end; burnish all the score lines really well with your bone folder.
Box Flaps X 2: Gingham Gala DSP, 2 3/4″ X 2″ minus 1/6″ so 1 15/16″ to be technical, score the flaps at 2″ ; fold and use a dimensional to hold the fold in place.
Box Strips X 2: Whisper White 1/2″ X 4″ , score at 1″ and 3″ and yes, shave 1/16″ off the ends. The score line takes room and we need to adjust everything for the score lines by shaving off a bit on the ends. Z fold the strips and burnish your score lines. (That means rub the folds really well!) Now adhere your strips inside your box, one strip just down from the top and the second strip right below the first strip). The penciled words say “Glued Down” to show you where to glue the strips. I used Tear and Tape. Place a second piece of Tear and Tape on the other end of the Z strip facing up, remove the backing and then fold the sides over to perfectly adhere the box to the strips so that your card lays flat.
Now your box should look like this with cross pieces to attach your greenery and flowers. The sides are being held with a yellow sticky note for the picture. When you are through stamping your inside images those two sides will be glued on either side of the score line in the middle of your card. I used Tear and Tape to adhere them.
Put your box aside for now and stamp and color your images with Tuxedo Memento black ink.
Stamp your outside image and your image on the left side of the inside first.
Now stamp the inside mirror image by using the Stamparatus and the plastic sheet from the Stamp A Ma Jig. Secure the plastic sheet to the Stamparatus with magnets and stamp the image twice to get lots of ink. Carefully position your sheet on the right side of the inside layer matching the left image and then burnish really really well with your finger or your bone folder or both! You must hold the sheet firmly with one hand while you burnish with the other so the sheet doesn’t shift and give you a double image. Use the black Stampin’ Up! marker to darken any lines that need it. Memento ink and the marker are water based so you can color the images with the alcohol based Stampin’ Blends without smearing the black. I wish I would have tilted the bottom of the stamp a little more to the right in making my mirror image so that the green leaf was outside the box like the left hand side.
Note: Other mirror image techniques use the silicone sheet, plumber’s gasket or the flat side of a photopolymer stamp. Our flower image was too big for a photopolymer stamp and you can’t see through plumber’s gasket so a silicone sheet or the Stamp A Ma Jig sheet work best. If you don’t have a Stamparatus, place the stamp face up, ink it well and then place the silicone sheet on top of the inked stamp and burnish with your fingers.
The Happy Birthday rectangle greeting is popped up with dimensionals.
The medium flower on the front has two leaves attached with glue dots and then it is popped up so it sits at the edge of the greeting.
The greenery and flower in the box are mounted with glue dots to a 1/4″ strip of window sheet in various lengths and then the window sheet is adhered to the strips with glue dots.
At club, we decided it needed something more so we added butterflies!
Do you like the butterflies? They are from the Sale A Bration Designer Series Paper and punch out with the butterfly punch. I hope you stocked up on this paper!

Comfort and Healing words are in “Flourishing Phrases”. The greetings go together perfectly and yet are in different sets!

Tea Together Bendi Card

May is zooming along and April projects are yet to be posted. To those of you waiting anxiously for some directions, thank you for your patience, and to those still looking for Mother’s Day inspiration I have a card or two that just might work.
I have seen several ‘Bendi Cards’ on Pinterest and when I saw Sara Levin’s Tea Together Bendi card I wanted to try it. She has a video at theartfulinker.com.
For those whose beloved mothers have passed away, the ‘Tea Together’ stamp set has an additional stamp that says “Love is a warm cup of tea”. A perfect saying for all those dear friends with whom we share a cup of tea and a listening ear!
Stamp Set: Tea Together, Amazing Life (for the corners on the back)
Designer Series Paper (DSP): Petal Promenade, Floral Romance, and Gold Foil Sheet
Dies: Tea Time Framelits (Pot and Cup), In The Woods (curves on the bendi arms), Be Mine Stitched Framelits (hearts), Sunshine Wishes ( Love), Celebrate You ( You). The club ladies also used the Happy Birthday framelit for an alternative saying.
Ink: Versa Mark, Old Olive
Tools: Gold Embossing Powder, Spritzer with Frost White Paint (Wink of Stella does the same), Tufted Embossing Folder,
Embellishments: 6″ of gold and white 1/8″ Tea Room ribbon
Card Base: Blushing Bride, 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″
Layer 1: Old Olive, 5 1/4″ X 4 1/8″ – note: this layer has a 1/8″ border on the top and sides but is flush to the bottom. Lay this piece landscape on the Stampin Trimmer at 1 1/2″ from the left and cut from 2″ to 3 5/8″ to make a tab for the bendi arm, then run through the Big Shot with the Tufted embossing folder. (Alternatively, you could make your large bendi arm with its tab and lay the tab 1 1/2″ from the left edge and place pencil marks on the old olive layer at the widest parts of the tab and then cut.)
Bendi Arms:
Old Olive, 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″ , Score at 1/2″ in landscape then turn to portrait and cut at 2 1/2″. You now have an arm that is 2 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ and an arm that is 1 3/4″ X 5 1/2″. The large arm is at the right side of the front and the small arm is at the left.
Place tear and tape on the 1/2″ scored section on the side that will wrap around the tufted old olive layer. This will help you keep from mixing up the arms. Oops, I mixed them up in the picture! The small arm goes to the left!
Score 3/8″ on the unscored side of the arms. Make a tab out of the 3/8″ scored edge by marking lightly with a pencil 1/2″ from the top and 1/2″ from the bottom of each arm. Fussy cut a tab on each arm by cutting a slight diagonal from the pencil mark to the edge of the arm. The larger arm will have a 1 1/2″ tab and the smaller arm will have a 3/4″ tab.
DSP for Bendi Arms: Petal Promenade 4 1/2 + 1/16″ (4 9/16″) X 1 3/4″ Small Arm, 4 1/2 + 1/16″ (4 9/16″) X 2 1/2″ for Large Arm. I know, I know, crazy measurements but we don’t want a green border where the small arm goes in to the large arm.
Cut both the DSP and the Bendi Arms at the same time to have a matching curve – the framelit will handle two layers. I used the curved die from the ‘In The Woods’ framelit set. Or fussy cut, making sure the curve on the small, left hand arm goes up at the right side where you will attach the teapot. If it is cut too narrow at the right side you won’t have room for the teapot above the cup. (yep-made that mistake!) Slide the DSP flush to the bottom of each arm giving you a border at the top and adhere. This picture shows the backside of the teapot and how important it is to curve up the bendi arm to give room to attach the teapot.
You have already made the slit for the large arm to slide into the Old Olive layer, now you need to make a slit in the large arm for the small arm to slide into. Lay the large arm on your stampin’ Trimmer at 2 1/2″ from the right edge (this includes the 1/2″ scored for the fold). Cut a slit from 1 1/4″ to 2″.
Work your two bendi arms into a curve with your fingers to break down the paper fibers so the arms curve easily.
Adhere the arms to the Old Olive layer. (Earlier you put tear and tape on the side that wraps around).
Now adhere the entire front to the Blushing Bride back. I used Tear and Tape for strength. Remember you do not have a bottom border, it is flush.
Teapot and Cup: Floral Romance DSP, 3 1/2″ X 12″ ; Stamp two pots and two cups with Old Olive ink. Cut with the framelits and then stamp with Versa Mark and gold emboss a large flower on the teapot and the small buds on the cups. I gold embossed both cups and both teapots so I could choose the best for the top. Spritz the cups and teapots or paint with Wink of Stella.
Teapot: Top layer has handle, base, lid cut off. Pop up on whole teapot with dimensionals.
Teacup: Top layer has handle, base, back of cup cut off. Pop up on the whole cup with dimensionals.
Both the teacup and the teapot are mounted on the small arm. Start by adhering the teacup 3/4″ from the left on the small bendi arm with glue dots. Now lay your bendi arms flat and mount the teapot on the top right edge of the arm tilting it to make sure no part goes outside the Blushing Bride layer so that it fits inside the envelope. Use a glue dot to put the hearts between the two layers of the tea cup and pull the tea cup handle in front of the teapot. The hearts are behind the teapot. Both the hearts and the teapot “float” with very little adhesive. Note the Dimensionals on the very bottom of the back of the teapot.
Embellish: Gold Foil, 2 1/2″ X 4″ Cut – love (Sunshine Wishes Framelit), – you (Celebrate You Framelit), and 9 hearts (on right hand side of Be Mine Stitched framelit). One of the punched out hearts was put between the words with a little bow underneath. The 9 open hearts are placed between the two layers of the cup to look like steam.
Embellish the back of the Blushing Bride with an Old Olive strip 7/8″ X 5 1/2″ and a Petal Promenade DSP strip 3/4″ X 5 1/2″. Use the corner stamps from the Amazing Life stamp set to make a nice corner with gold foil accent.
This special fold card is worth all the work when your mother or friend is astonished by your creation!!

Petal Promenade DSP, Friendship Pizza Boxes

Let’s look at some projects:
The Petal Promenade DSP is gorgeous with two sheets that can be cut to be card fronts like the piece shown here behind this Laser Cut paper. Both papers are available as a free Sale A Bration item. Both outside and inside greetings are from ‘Ribbon of Courage’, as well as the little heart. The roses in the corner are from the ‘Painted Glass’ stamp set and cut out with the ‘Stained Glass Thinlits Dies’.
Here is another project using the Petal Promenade DSP, a Pearlized Doily, and the Organdy Ribbon. The greeting is from ‘Guy Greetings’, the inside greeting is the ‘Forever Lovely’ stamp :
Pizza boxes make wonderful gifts that can be regifted. I made these pizza boxes for my “kit class” thank you gifts. I bought a cookie press and Lisa, bless her heart and her patience, helped me make little spritz cookies in flower and leaf shapes to go in the boxes. The greeting is from ‘A Big Thank You’ stamp set:
Besides the pizza box, this uses the ‘Share What You Love’ DSP which has foil accents on it. The Frosted Flower Embellishment is perfect with one of our little rhinestones fitting perfectly in the middle of the flower.
Dimensions:
- Pizza Box itself is 3 3/8 X 3 3/8
- Solid First Layer is Merry Merlot 3 1/4 X 3 1/4
- Second Layer is Share What You Love DSP 3 X 3
- Sides First Layer is Merry Merlot 3 3/8 X 7/8
- Sides Top Layer is DSP 3 1/8 X 5/8
- Doily is retired product
- Greeting is stamped on Whisper White and cut with a Stitched Shapes Circle then sponged on edges
- Stamp Set is ‘A Big Thank You’
- Flower is Frosted Flower Embellishment in Occasions Catalog, pg. 11, topped with a rhinestone
- A Whisper White twine bow completes the top
The Gingham Gala DSP was used for these thank you cards. There are four cards here for the sake of the picture, it isn’t a fancy fold of some kind. “Thank You for your endless love and support” is in the ‘Lasting Lily’ Sale A Bration stamp set. The butterflies are in the ‘Beauty Abounds’ stamp set and cut with the ‘Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies’. “Ever So Grateful” is in the ‘A Big Thank You’ stamp set.

I stamped on the vellum cutout from the front and it wasn’t as fuzzy as it looks here. Isn’t the tag from the kit unique?
I need to get more little cookies done to put in the pizza boxes so I will sign off for now.

May Club Cards and Stamp A Stack Cards

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Hopefully your vacation day is a sunny one.
This post will include cards from our bimonthly club and the Elizabeth Stamp A Stack. Check back in a couple weeks for recipes. Today I will just show you the cards so you can decide if you want to make that last purchase from the catalog before savings and product are gone forever! Tuesday, May 31, is the last day to place an order from the Occasions catalog and the big catalog. Several items have already sold out so hurry!
My favorite project was the Birthday Blooms Surprise Pull Out card. I saw this card on My Tanglewood Cottage and the directions are on Splitcoast Stampers. Scroll through the Splitcoast Stampers pictured instructions to go down to the video (click here) to get the measurements I used. The greetings in the pull up are in the Birthday Blooms stamp set.
The flower image is stamped with Stazon black on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and colored with Blender Pens using Blushing Bride and Wild Wasabi Ink. The bottom parts of the image’s leaves are fussy cut and then the oval framelit #4 is slipped under the cutout and run through the Big Shot. When you run the stamped image through the Big Shot you will get a nice indentation to fussy cut the oval between the two large leaves. The little flowers in the corner are the top flowers of the image stamped a second time, fussy cut, and mounted on greenery from The Bird Builder Punch. The butterfly is from the hostess Best Thoughts set. It is stamped on vellum and then placed upside down on the Stampin’ Pierce Mat and rubbed with the Stylus to give a nice white color.
When you pull on the ribbon – Voila!
The inside words come from the Best Thoughts hostess set which has the butterfly we used on the front:
Retiring Products: The Bird Builder Punch (117191), The Best Thoughts hostess set (139234), The Curvy Corner Trio Punch (139683) that made both the corner and the ribbon slider hole, and It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack (140552) from which I pulled the green striped paper. You will see more of this paper in another card. The Paper Stack has 48 sheets with 4 each of 12 double-sided 12X12 designs.
The masculine version of the Surprise Pull Out card uses Butterfly Basics, In The Meadow and Guy Greetings stamp sets, all of which carryover to the new catalog- Yay! Once again it uses the “Think outside the Framelit” technique to stamp an image, cut out a little of the image and then slip the framelit under the cutout part and run through the Big Shot.
I will miss the Blackberry Bliss cardstock which is part of the retiring In Colors (see page 137).
Our technique sheet for club was the Mirror Image technique:
We mirrored the little yorky from the Hey Girl stamp set (#138706) which is retiring. I used the retiring Oval Scallop punch(#119856) to create the clouds. Join my team, or the bimonthly club, and you will make the technique sheets at our meetings. If you live far away or can’t make the meetings, I will mail you a completed technique sheet.
The Stamp A Stack held at the Elizabeth library was another fun time of stamping! Here is the first card:
The Sunburst Sayings stamp set and Sunburst Thinlits Die used on this card are currently bundled for a 15% discount. See page 25 of the Occasions catalog. Though both products are in the new catalog, there is no longer a bundle. Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey are used together on this card and both are retiring colors in only three days. See page 137 for all the In Color retiring products.
The second card: (Stampers make six cards- two each of three designs for $20)
What could be better than Bermuda Bay with a black accent?! The flower is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set which is carried over to the new catalog, however the Honeycomb Embossing Folder (#129378) is retiring, as well as the Honeycomb Hello stamp set (#134075) which has the little “hello” and a cute little bumble bee that a couple of my stampers added to their card front. The Curvy Corner Trio punch is retiring (#139683) and the Candy Brads (page 161) are being replaced with shaped enamel dots.
The third card demonstrates the Drapery Fold Technique, modified from that found on Laura’s Stamp Pad:
Once again I have used the retiring It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack (#140552). Sadly, all the Scallop Circle Punches are retiring (see page 165). I used the 1 3/4″ scallop circle punch and punched the white inside layer of the card so that the main card stock showed. I then stamped “make a wish” in Basic Black with the Party Wishes retiring stamp set (#140651). The ‘It’s My Party’ enamel dots (#140554) are retiring as well. The Happy Birthday is from the Rose Wonder stamp set (#140697) and thankfully it is NOT retiring. If you wanted a stamp set with words that fit many different occasions, this set is a must have. See page 18 of the Occasions catalog. The more masculine version of this card:
The balloons are from the Balloon Bouquet punch (#140609) and will still be available in the next catalog but the mini balloon punch in the Party Punch Pack (#140608) on page 4 of the Occasions catalog is retiring. The punch pack and the Party Wishes stamp set used for the “make a wish” shown above is available as a bundle at a 15% discount in a wood mount (#141073) or clear mount (#141071).
The drapery fold starts with a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) that is 4″ X 11 1/2″ so you can get three cuts out of a 12X12. Be careful if your design is one that shouldn’t be upside down. (Yes, I learned that the hard way!)
Score your DSP on the long 11 1/2″ side at: 3″, 4″ , 6″ , 7″ , 9″ , and 10″ .
Turn the paper to the short 4″ side closest to the 10″ score line and make a small score mark or pencil mark at 1″.
Use your cutter to cut diagonally from the 1″ mark to the bottom of the 3″ score line. Make a z fold. I trimmed the right side of the top of the folded DSP to 5 3/8″ so I could have a border around each edge.
I love the way the drapery fold shows both sides of our pretty Designer Series Paper. There are many different fold sizes you can make. I would love to see one you have made!

March Cards

The most popular Sale A Bration free set in my events was the “What I Love” stamp set. I did a Triple Time Stamping card to demonstrate this stamp set.
For the next card, I used the Party Wishes stamp set, the Confetti Embossing Folder and the Party Punch Pack casing the card in the Occasions catalog:
The embossing folder is sponged in the three colors, Melon Mambo, Pool Party, and Crushed Curry before running it through the Big Shot. Sponge the side with the indents if you want the confetti to be white like it is here. The confetti behind the cake is created by coloring only the confetti of the Make a Wish stamp with a marker. For the inside Happy Birthday, I used the Wet Wipe Technique, placing several drops of reinker on a wet wipe (placed on a silicone sheet to protect your work surface) and then use that for your ink pad! Voila! Lots of random color! The Melon Mambo balloon is stamped and punched, the cupcakes are colored with a marker, stamped and punched, and the candle on the cake is colored, stamped and punched. All three punches come in the Party Punch Pack. The cake is fussy cut and popped up after attaching thick twine with glue dots! One stamper used Perfect Plum instead of Melon Mambo for a more masculine card.
The following card uses another embossing folder technique-Stamping With An Embossing Folder. This is simply inking up your embossing folder and then using it to stamp on your card. I used the Honeycomb Embossing Folder and Sahara Sand Ink and purposely left some areas of the folder uninked for a subtle background:
The Whisper White paper is cut at 8″ X 5 1/4″ and scored at 4″. It is adhered to a piece of Blackberry Bliss cut at 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″. This gives a nice alternative to our standard layering. The greetings are from the Rose Wonder stamp set and stampers could choose from a variety of greetings in that stamp set to create the perfect card. Kinda Eclectic was used for the sunbeams and greenery, and the butterflies are from the stamp set Papillon Potpourri. There are matching small and large punches to make quick and beautiful butterflies. The little flowers are from the Itty Bitty Punch set and gold metallic thread is looped behind the greeting. The silver metallic thread is used for antennae on the large butterfly.
My favorite card for this month is a birthday card using the Party Pop Up Thinlits Dies:
The paper is from the “It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack”. Page 5 of the Occasions catalog. The Hip Hip Hooray is cut out using the Thinlit Die. The confetti pieces from cutting it out were used on the inside for a little extra bit of celebration!
“A Day All About You” is from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set on page 8 of the big catalog. It is cut out with one of the Handpicked Framelits. “make a WISH” is from the Party Wishes stamp set and the banners are made using the little banner punch. The “make a WISH” greeting is colored with a black marker and stamped on a piece of the Designer Series Paper which has matching confetti on a white background instead of black. A black frame is made with the 1 1/2″ circle punch. A piece of black confetti Designer Series Paper measuring 3 3/4″ X 5″ is placed behind the cut out, just down from the candle flames so the flames in the back of the cutout show the Crushed Curry cardstock. The strips on the side are 3/8″ X 5 1/4″. I was conserving paper by making strips. You could just as well have an 8 1/4″ X 5 1/4″ piece of the designer paper adhered to the main card stock. Cut a piece of copy paper 3 3/4″ wide to slip under the Happy Birthday cutout so that you can sponge the base, the words and the candles. Use sticky notes to protect the sides so you don’t sponge more than you want colored.
The balloons are punched with our new large balloon punch. The sides are sponged and a sparkle is added with the white gel pen. A glue dot holds the twine on the back of the balloon and a bow is added on top.
Main Cardstock: Crushed Curry 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ Scored at 4 14″
Black Confetti Designer Series Paper: 5 3/8″ X 4 1/8″
Shimmery White Cardstock for outside: 4 1/2″ X 3 1/2″
Scrap of same at least 3 1/2″ long for the greeting
Shimmery White for inside: 8 1/4″ X 5 1/4″

Where did summer go? Paul can’t wait for hunting season and I am already thinking about all those Christmas cards we will make together!
Let me show you what we did at the August card buffet:
Get Well Soup-printable pdf instructions
Card #1: Bohemian Get Well:
Isn’t the Bohemian Designer Series Paper (DSP for short) just beautiful. The first card uses the left over Very Vanilla paper from cutting the oval to make an additional layer. My stampers at the card buffet made that creative change.
How did you make that soup bowl? I am so glad you asked.
You start by stamping the Very Vanilla layer with the whole image.
Then mask the little heart on the soup bowl with a sticky note and ink up the bowl part of your stamp.
Remove the sticky note! (That was the hardest thing to remember) and then stamp your bowl on the DSP.
Make a little cut at the right side of the bowl to cut out the soup section.
When you glue the bowl on top of your full image it will blend perfectly. Be sure and use Tombow liquid glue so you can get it perfectly aligned.
Then color the soup section. I used the fine tip end of my Crushed Curry marker and it gave a nice “soupy” look. For the inside I used a strip of DSP and a stamp from the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set:

Envelope Card Box printable pdf instructions
As a thank you gift for attending, each stamper received this Envelope Card Box. Three of the cards at the card buffet used the Bohemian DSP and the card box used the same DSP so the stampers could have a lovely gift for themselves or have a gift to give with matching Get Well, Happy Birthday, and Thank You cards.
I love the new Lots of Labels Framelits with its straight sides used for the buckle of the belly band, and there are seven sizes so truly LOTS of labels. The greeting is from Watercolor Wings.
Card #2: Bohemian Happy Birthday:
This was the Happy Birthday with the Bohemian Designer Paper on Blackberry Bliss with the new Boho Chic Embossing Folder. I used a framelit from the Project Life Cards and Labels framelits to punch out the middle of the DSP where I stamped the Happy Birthday from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set.
The Bohemian DSP measures 3 5/8″ X 2 7/8″ and is on a Very Vanilla layer that measures 3 3/4″ X 3″. Not much else tricky on this card. It takes 23″ of twine to go around twice. The embossed layer is the same color as the main card stock and a full size of 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″. The DSP cut out makes a perfect border for the inside of the card which uses another greeting from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set:
Card #3: Bohemian Thank You:
This card comes straight from an example in the catalog. It is white embossing on the DSP with a base card stock of Rich Razzleberry and a Bermuda Bay Banner. The stamp set used is Another Thank You. For the inside, I stayed simple and used a greeting from the Crazy About You stamp set:
Card #4: Sprinkles of Life friend card
I couldn’t wait to play with the Sprinkles of Life stamp set inside the back cover of the catalog. It is this years Make A Difference stamp set. Stampin’ Up! donates $3 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities for each set they sell. But there’s more fun….. they have a punch that goes with the set! It is the Tree Builder Punch and punches out the clouds and tree leaves and the bird and the apple and the tree trunk! Here is my take on the set using Garden Green and Soft Suede:
Kinda Eclectic is the stamp set with the sunshine and a Work of Art stamp makes quick work of adding green to the bottom. For the inside I broke my own rule and used a retired set from Sale A Bration called See Ya Later, it was just sooooo perfect for the card…..
Nothing much you need help with on this card. The stamp sets do it all and the layers are the standard. What? You don’t have my Standard Layers worksheet? Let’s fix that:

Card #5: A Whole Lot of Lovely Thank You Card:
This uses a hostess stamp set so now you really do want to have a party and earn this set – right?
There are only a couple tricky things to know on this card. The banner is the #4 banner framelit. Cut two of the same color and then cut 1/8″ off the top and the sides for a nice layered look. I used Versa Mark to add flowers to the top banner, glued it to the larger banner and then cut it in half, moved the halves 3/4″ apart, and glued the circle on top to lengthen the banner. You could also cut the paper exactly the width of the framelit, 1 7/8 “, and then run the banners only part way through the Big Shot to just cut the edges. We will do that with the next card but since this was behind a nice big circle I took the easy way. The stamped (colored with markers) Thank You is cut out with the Circle Framelit # 5 and the black border is punched with the 2 1/2 ” circle punch. This card was on Pinterest with Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron and looked great. This card uses Calypso Coral and last years In Color of Coastal Cabana. The inside used the same hostess stamp set:
Card #6: Birthday Blossoms:
Hard as I tried to adjust the color this card looks blue but it is really a beautiful purple -Wisteria Wonder. It is also an example straight from the catalog with just a different card base and different ribbon and different twine. Okay, so it started out with an example from the catalog.
The tricky part is making the top layer longer than the largest framelit – easy peasy – if you remember to go through the Big Shot only part way to cut just the lovely curves and then back it out. You start with a Whisper White strip 2 13/16″ X 5 1/4″ to run just part way through the Big Shot using the largest of the new Lots of Labels framelits #7. The straight edges of this new set of framelits are perfect for adding ribbon. I put a strip of sticky tape on the back of each side of the label and used 4 1/2 ” White Organza ribbon which I trimmed after adhering. 12″ of Baker’s Twine gathered the ribbon nicely on the sides for a unique look. The stamps are all from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set, (we used two word stamps from that set on the Bohemian Happy Birthday) and the set is made for the pansy punch so no fussy cutting!

Valentine Shaker Card and 3D Thinlits
