High Tide Light Up Card
Hello Stamping Friends,
It is almost time for me to head off to the Stampin’ Up! convention in Orlando. Paul is going with me and we are making it a vacation with a trip to San Antonio for my niece’s wedding after the first days of convention. What fun!
For Pastor Appreciation this month I thought the High Tide set with a bit of electrical science would be fun.
I began these instructions as my first video which is why I showed the supplies this way. The camera and lighting didn’t work so we are back to the drawing board on doing videos.
Supplies:
- Base of card 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
- (2) Whisper White outside and inside layers 5 1/4 X 4
- Night of Navy for greeting 1 3/4 X 2 1/2
- Whisper White top of greeting 1 1/2 X 2 1/4
- Whisper White for lighthouse 1 1/2 X 3 1/2
- Sahara Sand Shoreline 2 X 5 1/4
- 1/4″ Copper Adhesive Tape, cut down the middle to make it 1/8″ wide
- CR 1220 Lithium Battery
- Chibitronics Lights
I ordered the last three supplies through Amazon.
I used the High Tide stamp set for most of the scene and the Waterfront stamp set for the mountains.
The Stamparatus was the best tool to perfectly line up the stamps to do the two step stamping on the lighthouse. (Note: the stamp set containers fit underneath the plates to give a nice solid surface for inking your stamps.) Remember to use the foam pad with the photopolymer stamps for clear stamping. I cut a piece of grid paper to help me line up the image. Stampin’ Up! now has grid paper made for the Stamparatus (#149621. In my previous post I show all the supplies available and four videos on using the Stamparatus to its full potential.
Layers: Stamparatus, foam pad, grid paper, magnets (yes, I already broke mine but I can order another).
Many of the videos show stamping first and then cutting to the size you want. This gives a larger piece for the magnets to hold so the paper doesn’t pull up when you stamp. I already had my pieces cut to size for my class so I had to be careful as I stamped to pull up the plate slowly so as not to pull the paper out of position.
The background was stamped with Smoky Slate:
Now you can lay your second lighthouse stamp perfectly over the first, press the other plate to pick it up, ink it in Cajun Craze and stamp for a perfect lighthouse. Now fussy cut the image and you are ready to do some fun art and science.
- Step 1 – Mountains -I used the mountains in the Waterfront set and stamped one mountain on a sticky note and fussy cut to be a mask. I will keep that in the stamp set. After you have fussy cut your lighthouse, you need to look at where it will be in reference to the water so you know where to stamp the water and mountains so your light shines on the sponged sunset sky and is between the mountains. Stamp the middle mountain first, mask and then stamp one to the right and one to the left of middle using tranquil tide.
-Step 2 – Water – Stamp the water ripples with the High Tide water stamp in Night of Navy, sponge to fill in
-Step 3- Sun – Leaving the mountain mask in place, stamp the sun and stamp again on sticky note for a mask; note: the sun in the Waterfront is very “artistic” compared to the more symmetrical sun in the High Tide set.
-Step 4 – Birds – stamp a partial of the birds in the High Tide set directly over the mountains in Memento black
-Step 5 – Sky – Have fun with sponging the sky. Start with your lightest color – So Saffron, then Crushed Curry then a bit of Perfect plum for the very top and sides and finish with Cajun Craze directly around the sun.

Blended Seasons with Stitched Seasons Framelits
Hello Stamping Friends,

Isn’t this an amazing way to use all the layers with all the stitching showing?! This card is by Satomi at https://letsmakeacardsatomiwellard.blogspot.com.su. Note the new Gorgeous Grape 1/4″ mini striped ribbon, #146940, and the 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon in Whisper White, #146912.
Mary Brown’s card is done in awesome colors of pink and green and using the “Tufted” embossing folder, #146335, for a great background.
The leaves in this set are awesome as they look like they are floating to the ground. Satomi made this card as well. Notice the grain stamped on the wood.
I love Christmas bells and this one is perfect especially since it has a framelit to cut it out! Megan Daves’ card is lovely!
Tracy Elsom shows us how to make a quick and easy Christmas tag for gifts and goodies!
That is my fashion show of cards! It is a good thing I don’t have to be a judge and pick just one. They are all beautiful!

Tranquil Tulips
Hello Stamping Friends,
Spring has been gorgeous in Castle Rock this year! Usually our lilac buds get frozen with a spring cold front and we miss out on the beautiful blossoms. Not this year! They are fabulous and I didn’t even have to run out and cover the bushes with a sheet. We have several little yellow finch friends to entertain us as well. One flower I have never had much luck with is the tulip. The green stem will pop out of the ground but seldom produce a flower. So let’s make a paper tulip card!
These tulips have amazing art work built in to the stamps- white stripes on the blossoms, leaves with shades of green and a stamp for the middle.
I suppose with three grandsons I will get used to bugs in a jar but I would rather fill a jar with strawberries or flowers! I cased the layout of the tulips from someone on pinterest but made the bottom a flower box and added the ladybug and butterfly. I stamped the three butterflies on vellum and then rubbed the back of the circles on the butterfly’s wings with my stylus on the foam pad to make them bright white, then colored the back with my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends marker. I was making six of these cards so I folded the wings of the two larger butterflies for a 3D effect like this:
I used many retiring items that you can still purchase for the next five days. The base of the card is Elegant Eggplant with a Rose Red layer. The tulips are Elegant Eggplant, Rose Red, and Perfect Plum with Wild Wasabi for leaves – all are retiring colors.
The label I used to create the stand for the Easel card is from the Label Me Pretty stamp set. 
The “Thank You” comes from another retiring set “Swan Lake” .
Check out that cute little dragonfly! This set has so much potential and makes me feel peaceful just looking at the images. Another of the ‘Label Me Pretty’ images:
The “Love You” is from the ‘Banners for You’ stamp set….. I put a sticky note over the ‘I’ in the greeting, inked, removed the sticky and stamped. I liked the little dots on the stamp set but used a marker to make them bigger and added a few extra dots of my own. For both these greetings I punched a 1 3/4″ circle from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper to match the flower box. I popped up both the greeting and the circle to have a nice tall easel holder. I tried out the third stamp with all the flowers around the Happy Birthday. I first stamped and colored the image but it lost too much detail so I colored the back of my stamp with regular markers, huffed on the colored stamp, and then came up with an image with more detail that I popped up on an oval cut out in the wood:
Did you notice the Versa Mark images on the sides of the popped up greetings? I used the hearts from the Ronald McDonald set to stamp around the birthday greeting since it is going to my daughter. For the others I used tulip images from the ‘Lovely Wishes’ stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.
I recently attended a Mile High Stamp Camp with amazing Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. I wish I remembered the name of the lady who designed this card using the ‘Lovely Wishes’ set:
I needed a sympathy card so I took her design and used the ‘Petitie Pairs’ stamp set from the past for a tiny greeting to fit between the flowers. I have the old Ovals set so I sponged the edge to get the same look as the ‘Layering Oval’ set used above.
The layering ovals, squares and circles carry over in to the new catalog. I didn’t think I wanted the ‘Ruffled Embossing Folder’ used here until I actually used it in the stamp camp. It is unique and not just for shingles on a house like I imagined and it carrys over. Five embossing folders are retiring but the one that I will miss the most is the ‘Brick Wall’ embossing folder. Remember this card from the past?
Let’s not think fall, let’s think spring and graduation! I needed a graduation card so I used the retiring ‘Marquee Messages’ set and a graduation cap stamp from a previous Paper Pumpkin. There are fun confetti products in the “other” store that you could use for the graduation caps:

And if you need a unique gift box for that special graduate’s gift card, I suggest the Window Box Thinlits dies #142762 topped with a square piece of cardstock, 4″X4″ and a tassle made from our solid black baker’s twine and a 1/2″ punched black circle glued on a large brad. We have a ‘Mini Tassels Assortment’ you can purchase and then dip in a bowl of reinker to make just the right color. Yes, it is retiring as well.
You would need the longer ones for the box above but these would be cute on a card front with a punched cap.
I can’t leave today’s ultra-long post without sharing three other cards. In the last post I showed my favorite retiring stamp set in use on an Eclipse card. Here is another card we made at a past club meeting with the ‘Awesomely Artistic’ set, and the ‘Wild About Flowers’ set which has greetings that are so ideal for retirement or new beginnings.

Magic Shutter Easter Card & Mother’s Day Card

My Easter card this year was the Magic Shutter Card. There are many videos on pinterest by that name, though I found if I prop my smart phone up on a stand, I can scroll through the dimensions on a written post like this one as I construct the card. Then there is no stopping and starting a video and trying to take notes, just tap the screen and scroll to the next step. Do you like doing that?
The Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper (#144137) matched with Wisteria Wonder card stock (#122922) does all the work of making the card beautiful. As you open the card the shutters open like the shutters on a camera for a great “ooooo….” moment. One designer put a picture of her child behind the shutters. With Teeny Tiny Wishes (#127802) this card could say Happy Mother’s Day or Happy Graduation or any of the other tiny wishes.
- The base is Thick Whisper White cardstock cut at 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ and scored at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″ Tip: After scoring the card base, gently fold the scores bringing the two sides to the middle to exactly match and then hold them in place and use your bone folder to firmly burnish the score lines.
Next let’s make the skinny panels on the fronts and the inside right and left. They are all four the same size. (Note: DSP means Designer Series Paper.)
- Wisteria Wonder = 1 7/8″ X 5 1/4″ make 4
- Delightful Daisy DSP = 1 5/8″ X 5″ make 4
Attach the DSP to the Wisteria Wonder layer and then attach each to the base.
Now let’s make the inside middle panel but it won’t be attached until after the shutters are attached.
- Wisteria Wonder = 3″ X 5 1/4″
- Delightful Daisy DSP = 2 3/4″ X 5″
Attach the DSP to the Wisteria Wonder. The circle in the middle is cut out with a 2 1/2″ layering circle framelit (# 141705) or the retired 2 1/2″ punch. Cut your circle out just slightly above middle. Tip: If you are using a punch, punch out a template on a sticky note and put it on your card panel to guide where you punch. Come down from the Wisteria Wonder top 1 1/4″ which will give you 1 1/2″ at the bottom of the circle cut out.
- Stamp the greeting on a Whisper White Strip 3 1/2″ X 1″ and punch it out with the Bow Builder punch (#137414). Attach it to the center of the circle cut out. The cut out will show behind the shutters so choose what you want to show, or match, as you glue on the greeting. Draw around the greeting with a Wisteria Wonder marker or sponge the greeting edges before gluing to the circle cut out.
You are not going to attach the middle panel yet, but you need to use it to guide where you glue the circle cut out. Hold the panel in place with a sticky note, put glue on the back of your circle cut out with the greeting, and carefully press your circle directly through the opening. Put the panel aside as you make the shutters.
Shutters:
- Wisteria Wonder = 4″ X 3 1/2″ Make two. Mark the center of one piece by coming down 1 3/4″ on the short side and over 2″ on the long side. Use a ruler and draw a line from the middle mark to the top and bottom corners on the short side. Cut out this triangle which you can then use for cutting the other shutter piece. (Save your template for future cards.)
Clip the pointy ends off the shutters. Score the uncut side at 1/2″.
Fold your score line and burnish well then unfold it and place the shutter right along the edge of the fold on the base. Put a piece of sticky tape on the 1/2″ edge.
Remove the sticky tape cover and then fold the side over pressing it onto the sticky tape.
Repeat on the other side. Layer the shutter’s points with one point on top of the other shutter and one point below.
Most of the cards online use a belly band but I prefer a ribbon that stays attached. I used the retired ribbon punch and punched the edge of the fold on each side. The Pretty Label punch (#143715) would work almost as well. Close each side and punch a little slot in the Whisper White base. I marked 1/2″ up from the bottom with a pencil so both sides would be in line.
Run the ribbon (20″) through the slots. Now you are ready to mount the middle panel. Place an Adhesive Foam Strip (#141825) at the very top of the panel and the very bottom of the panel and then mount the panel over your shutters and ribbon. (You could use the Stampin’ Dimensionals as well but it would take quite a few.)
After the inside was done, I put pearls on each end and tested to see if they would interfere with the shutters. They didn’t –so it worked!
The Card Front
The “Celebrate” thinlit was a Sale A Bration free product that will be available in the new catalog June 1st!
- Three “celebrates” were cut out – two with Wisteria Wonder 3″ X 4 1/4″ and one with Thick Whisper White 1 1/2″ X 4 1/4″. The purples were glued on top of each other and the white was offset a little. I used Tombow liquid glue and drew a thin line of glue on the letters – counted to twenty to let it get tacky- and then glued it on. If you wait just those twenty seconds the glue won’t gush out on your project.
The butterfly is stamped with the “You Move Me” stamps (#144002) and cut out with the “Move Me Thinlits” (#143732).
- Whisper White 1 1/2″ X 3 1/2″ will do both the butterfly and the He Has Risen greeting. Stamp the butterfly first with the solid stamp in Crushed Curry and then stamp the wing detail in Tangerine Tango. (I love two step stamping sets, and the butterfly thinlits even have antennae!) I used a Tangerine Tango marker to draw a thin line on the antennae then attached the little beauty with a glue dot under one wing.
- The greeting is from the retired “Easter Message” stamp set and cut with a Stitched Shape Framelit (#145372).
My Mother’s Day card uses the current Lovely Words Thinlits (#143733) and the Whisper White 1/4″ Organza Ribbon from the Occasions Catalog Page 23 (#145590). The “For You” greeting is from the So Many Shells stamp set (#143695).
The little heart is from the Subtles Enamel Shapes (#141679).
After I had taken pictures I added another heart on the greeting and one down in the bottom left.

Barn Door Bundle

This set has framelits to cut out the tracks, each little piece of hardware, each flower in the wreath, the set of three flowers and the bow! I think Stampin’ Up! thought of just about every which way you might want to stamp the embellishments. Check out what I made:
The inside uses stamps from two different sets in the Annual Catalog: Wild About Flowers, page 174, and Butterfly Basics, page 149. The ribbon on the front is from the Sale A Bration free Shimmer Ribbon Pack. The sign on the door is created by cutting out the frame in Basic Black with the framelit and then stamping the Hello Sign on Whisper White and cutting out just the Hello with a bit of black border and then popping this up on your black cutout. I liked the Pool Party on Pool Party but there are so many other combinations that look striking – copper hardware on brown or silver hardware on Soft Sky. I would love to see what you create!
To make the card you see here you will need:
- Eight #6 washers from your local hardware store
- Simple Stripes Embossing Folder (pg. 5 of Occasions Catalog) #145648
- Foam Adhesive Strips (pg. 203 of Annual Catalog) #141825; Five 5″ strips; glue dots; mini stampin’ dimensionals
- Inks – Basic Black for Hello, Emerald Envy for leaves, Crushed Curry for flowers, Early Espresso for door and greetings
- Ribbon – 6″ of Pool Party Shimmery Ribbon from Sale A Bration free bundle
- Base – Pool Party 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
- Top Layer – Pool Party 4″ X 5 1/4″
- Barn Door – Crumb Cake 2 3/4″ X 3 3/4″ The Framelit is 2 1/4″ X 3 5/16″ but give yourself some extra to stamp the door and then cut it down to size
- Hardware & Sign – Basic Black 4 1/2″ X 2″
- Greeting behind the door – Whisper White 4″ X 2 1/4″
- Greeting Inside Card – Whisper White 5 1/4″ X 4″
- Hello Greeting – Whisper White 1 1/2″ X 1 1/2″
- Cut the tracks in your top layer; Center the tracks framelit horizontally but NOT vertically. It is 5/8″ down from the top which makes it about 1/4″ and a hair from the bottom. (Isn’t it great that the two tracks are on one framelit?!)
- Emboss the top layer with the Simple Stripes Embossing Folder positioning an indented stripe directly on the top of the top track so you will have a flat surface where you are trying to glue on the black hardware strip. Check out the picture above.
- Stamp the barn door with Early Espresso Ink and cut it out with the framelit; sponge the edges for a bit of shadow
- Cut out the black hardware and sign – two rollers for the top of the door, one long black strip, the door handle and the sign
- Glue on the long black strip. I used tombow liquid glue.
- Place a washer beneath the top track and bottom track at the far left side of each track. Put a mini dimensional on top of the washers then place another washer on top of the mini dimensionals. You should have one washer underneath the cardstock, the dimensional then a washer on top of the cardstock.
- Position two more washers at the far right side of each track and do the same layering: washer-mini dimensional-washer.
- Put two glue dots on the top of the four layered washers
- With two washers pushed as far left as they will go, position your barn door and press the left side of the door onto the glue dots
- Making sure the other two washers are pushed as far right as they will go, slide the barn door to the right and press onto the glue dots
- Mount your top layer to your card base with the foam adhesive strips. One strip should be placed above and below each of the tracks and one strip right in the middle- so five 5″ strips are used.
- Take your Whisper White 4″ X 2 1/4″ greeting piece and temporarily place it under the door. Slide the door to the left and make a light pencil mark to show where your edge will be when stamping. Slide the door to the right and mark the edge for the other side. Hint: If making multiples use a large acrylic block to mount both the left and right greeting on the one block and you can stamp without remarking the edges each time.
- Stamp your greetings. Note: The Whisper White greeting piece could be larger or smaller depending on your choice of greetings- just be sure to attach the door to the washers further out or further in on the door as needed to cover the greetings. You will see several different sizes on Youtube for this greeting piece. The key is the door placement on the washers so it covers the greetings.
- Glue your greeting behind the door. I used Tombow so it didn’t stick before it was in position.
- Glue the rollers to the door only at the bottom. It is an illusion that they are attached at the top and rolling along the track.
- Glue the handle.
- Make the Hello Sign by stamping the sign on Whisper White and then fussy cut the “hello” with a bit of black border and pop this up on the black sign cut out with the framelit and Basic Black cardstock. Attach the sign with a glue dot and then attach a little bow on top with another glue dot.
- Stamp your inside greeting and your name on the back.
- Decorate your envelope – no naked envelopes in the mail!
- Stamp and send!!
PARTY AT MY HOUSE
We will be making this card and the Blossoming Basket card (see the previous post) at my house here in Castle Rock on March 14 (rescheduled from March 10). I would love to have you join us. We will start at 9:00 and have a light lunch about 11:30. RSVP by Sunday, March 11. It’s a standard party with a door prize, thank you gifts, snacks and chocolate. There is no charge but catalogs will be available for shopping or taking home to shop later.

I will answer questions and we will go over the responsibilities of the hostess for each club. I am thinking we need one Saturday club every other month and one weekday club every other month but it all depends on you.

The Emerald Envy box uses the third one down and the Dapper Denim box uses the second one down to be a bit more masculine. The flower and cupcake on the edges of the banner are part of the Window Box stamp set! The banner uses a 5 1/2″ X 7/8 inch piece of card stock and the little Thinlit from the set that scores and cuts the end! The video below will show that in detail.
For a thank you gift, I used the same Window Shopping Bundle and made a little St. Patrick’s Day basket.
Hmmm…. It did have chocolate in it at one time; at least the tea light and mints are still there for the picture. I used Cucumber Crush paper and the Mint Macaron ribbon which is still in the Clearance Rack. Why a tea light? Because the door prize was a tea light holder made with Watermelon Wonder card stock:
To make the tealight you use two pieces of the main Thinlit just as you do for the box:
Remember the middle heart is directional so punch your windows accordingly.
I demonstrated the basket pieces with the same color. You only need one piece of the main box Thinlit for the basket and one piece 8 1/2 X 3/4 for the handle:
The Thinlit set makes a basket just perfect for a little Easter gift!
The regular box uses two Thinlit cutouts which fit nicely on a 6 X 11 piece of paper:

One more quick note – check the bottom of your Big Shot machine once in awhile. The bottom screws need to be kept tightened as well as the screw on the handle. The machine comes with a little tool to keep the handle tightened but you will need a phillips screw driver to tighten the bottom screws.

Fall Warm Wishes Card with Leaves Acrostic

While sales are fun, card examples are even more inspiring and I have been slack in posting all the fun cards and techniques we have been doing.
October Club:
I know October seems so long ago and though the card we made is for fall, imagine doing the same Watercolor Wash technique with Christmas colors and making ornaments instead of leaves. Send me an example if you do!

I did a few things differently than Patty. I used the retired spider web embossing folder to emboss the leaves after cutting them out, you could get the same effect by scoring, and I used the retired “Think Happy” stamp set for the little smiles on the leaves, though it would be quite easy to draw them in.
The acrostic was one I wrote when teaching poetry to my third graders one lovely fall afternoon. I wrote the above for the example and then had them all sit outside and write their own acrostic from something they saw, or smelled, or touched, or heard – hopefully not tasted! What a fun memory!
Stampin’ Up’s Watercolor Paper #122959 is 6″ X 9″ and makes enough leaves for two cards. You could also use Shimmery White cardstock #101910. Remember to leave enough room to stamp and punch out your greeting from the paper.
Watercolor Wash Technique
Step 1) Put 4 drops of various reinkers in a paint palette (or a cool whip lid)
I used Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze, Pear Pizzaz
Step 2) Wet one side of the paper and then the other side so it lies flat
Step 3) Dip a paintbrush in the ink and then dab it on your paper, wash out the brush and apply a different color,
repeat until the watercolor paper is covered. Let dry.
Step 4) Using Gold Wink of Stella Glitter Brush #141898 flick gold flecks on your dried sheet by flicking the brush against the edge of its case
Step 5) Cut out your leaves with the Leaflets Framelits #138283 and cut out one leaf with the Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper #142029
-note, cut the leaf with the glimmer side of the paper facing down so the framelit cuts into the white backside to protect your framelit.
The base of the card is Cajun Craze 4 1/4 X 11 Scored at 5 1/2
The Woodland Embossing Folder is used with Very Vanilla card stock 4 X 5 1/4 for a great background to the leaves. I typed the acrostic on Word, making four card insides from one sheet of Very Vanilla.
The greeting is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set (pg. 113) and is punched out of the watercolored paper with the Decorative Label Punch #120907. Remember, stamp first -then punch. A small dab of glue is run around the edges and then the label is dipped in Pumpkin Pie glitter.
A little piece of burlap ribbon #141487 is glued on the Very Vanilla, the leaves are added with glue dots, and a gold ribbon tied on top.
Faux Icing/Snow Technique
The Technique I taught at club came from last spring’s Stampin’ Up! convention where we learned how to make faux icing.
My glitter was not Dazzling Diamonds #133751 so it has a rose tint. Lesson learned! Stay with the best! The cupcake and the tree are from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set, pg. 106. I loved how the ink from the stamped image bled through the ‘icing’ to give the shadowed effect. Be careful that your mixture isn’t too thick or you won’t get that result. If you store the leftover mixture in a jar be sure and add a bit of water to make up for what has evaporated. The Tree Builder Punch #138295 was used for the birds and the cherry on top. I wish you could see the 3D effect of the snowman built from the Owl Punch 5/16″ circle on top of the 3/8″ circle punch.
And finally, I must put in a plug for Paper Pumpkin, the October kit was a set of 8 shaker cards and the kit was exceptional!

May Club Cards and Stamp A Stack Cards

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Hopefully your vacation day is a sunny one.
This post will include cards from our bimonthly club and the Elizabeth Stamp A Stack. Check back in a couple weeks for recipes. Today I will just show you the cards so you can decide if you want to make that last purchase from the catalog before savings and product are gone forever! Tuesday, May 31, is the last day to place an order from the Occasions catalog and the big catalog. Several items have already sold out so hurry!
My favorite project was the Birthday Blooms Surprise Pull Out card. I saw this card on My Tanglewood Cottage and the directions are on Splitcoast Stampers. Scroll through the Splitcoast Stampers pictured instructions to go down to the video (click here) to get the measurements I used. The greetings in the pull up are in the Birthday Blooms stamp set.
The flower image is stamped with Stazon black on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and colored with Blender Pens using Blushing Bride and Wild Wasabi Ink. The bottom parts of the image’s leaves are fussy cut and then the oval framelit #4 is slipped under the cutout and run through the Big Shot. When you run the stamped image through the Big Shot you will get a nice indentation to fussy cut the oval between the two large leaves. The little flowers in the corner are the top flowers of the image stamped a second time, fussy cut, and mounted on greenery from The Bird Builder Punch. The butterfly is from the hostess Best Thoughts set. It is stamped on vellum and then placed upside down on the Stampin’ Pierce Mat and rubbed with the Stylus to give a nice white color.
When you pull on the ribbon – Voila!
The inside words come from the Best Thoughts hostess set which has the butterfly we used on the front:
Retiring Products: The Bird Builder Punch (117191), The Best Thoughts hostess set (139234), The Curvy Corner Trio Punch (139683) that made both the corner and the ribbon slider hole, and It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack (140552) from which I pulled the green striped paper. You will see more of this paper in another card. The Paper Stack has 48 sheets with 4 each of 12 double-sided 12X12 designs.
The masculine version of the Surprise Pull Out card uses Butterfly Basics, In The Meadow and Guy Greetings stamp sets, all of which carryover to the new catalog- Yay! Once again it uses the “Think outside the Framelit” technique to stamp an image, cut out a little of the image and then slip the framelit under the cutout part and run through the Big Shot.
I will miss the Blackberry Bliss cardstock which is part of the retiring In Colors (see page 137).
Our technique sheet for club was the Mirror Image technique:
We mirrored the little yorky from the Hey Girl stamp set (#138706) which is retiring. I used the retiring Oval Scallop punch(#119856) to create the clouds. Join my team, or the bimonthly club, and you will make the technique sheets at our meetings. If you live far away or can’t make the meetings, I will mail you a completed technique sheet.
The Stamp A Stack held at the Elizabeth library was another fun time of stamping! Here is the first card:
The Sunburst Sayings stamp set and Sunburst Thinlits Die used on this card are currently bundled for a 15% discount. See page 25 of the Occasions catalog. Though both products are in the new catalog, there is no longer a bundle. Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey are used together on this card and both are retiring colors in only three days. See page 137 for all the In Color retiring products.
The second card: (Stampers make six cards- two each of three designs for $20)
What could be better than Bermuda Bay with a black accent?! The flower is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set which is carried over to the new catalog, however the Honeycomb Embossing Folder (#129378) is retiring, as well as the Honeycomb Hello stamp set (#134075) which has the little “hello” and a cute little bumble bee that a couple of my stampers added to their card front. The Curvy Corner Trio punch is retiring (#139683) and the Candy Brads (page 161) are being replaced with shaped enamel dots.
The third card demonstrates the Drapery Fold Technique, modified from that found on Laura’s Stamp Pad:
Once again I have used the retiring It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack (#140552). Sadly, all the Scallop Circle Punches are retiring (see page 165). I used the 1 3/4″ scallop circle punch and punched the white inside layer of the card so that the main card stock showed. I then stamped “make a wish” in Basic Black with the Party Wishes retiring stamp set (#140651). The ‘It’s My Party’ enamel dots (#140554) are retiring as well. The Happy Birthday is from the Rose Wonder stamp set (#140697) and thankfully it is NOT retiring. If you wanted a stamp set with words that fit many different occasions, this set is a must have. See page 18 of the Occasions catalog. The more masculine version of this card:
The balloons are from the Balloon Bouquet punch (#140609) and will still be available in the next catalog but the mini balloon punch in the Party Punch Pack (#140608) on page 4 of the Occasions catalog is retiring. The punch pack and the Party Wishes stamp set used for the “make a wish” shown above is available as a bundle at a 15% discount in a wood mount (#141073) or clear mount (#141071).
The drapery fold starts with a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) that is 4″ X 11 1/2″ so you can get three cuts out of a 12X12. Be careful if your design is one that shouldn’t be upside down. (Yes, I learned that the hard way!)
Score your DSP on the long 11 1/2″ side at: 3″, 4″ , 6″ , 7″ , 9″ , and 10″ .
Turn the paper to the short 4″ side closest to the 10″ score line and make a small score mark or pencil mark at 1″.
Use your cutter to cut diagonally from the 1″ mark to the bottom of the 3″ score line. Make a z fold. I trimmed the right side of the top of the folded DSP to 5 3/8″ so I could have a border around each edge.
I love the way the drapery fold shows both sides of our pretty Designer Series Paper. There are many different fold sizes you can make. I would love to see one you have made!
My next event is the catalog launch on June 18 from 10:00 – 2:00, open house style. I will have catalogs, and you can make new In Color sheets, a bookmark for the catalog and a quick make and take with a new product. Retired product will be available for purchase.

The Wedding and SU Convention
Hello Stamping Friends,
Did you miss me? It was a flurry of a month in more ways than one! We spent 10 days of April at my daughter Stacia’s and Jonathan’s wedding in Puerto Rico, returned home for one evening and then I flew out to the Stampin’ Up! convention in Salt Lake City. A major snowstorm hit Colorado and I was stranded for an extra day in Salt Lake—rough, one more day to be with friends, eat pizza and soak in the hot tub.
So we left this scene in Puerto Rico:

A little more than a flurry I would say!
Convention was so much fun. Jean and Wendy attended with me and those two beloved friends knew I hadn’t had time to make swaps before I left for Puerto Rico so they got together and made a whole sack of swaps for me. Thank you both so much!

There were chandeliers and marble everywhere – even in the bathrooms!! As the bus left to go back to the convention center they handed each of us a really awesome bag. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and helped me to this level.

Stampin’ Up! welcomed us with streamers that popped out and flew all over the auditorium so I saved a few.

March Cards

The most popular Sale A Bration free set in my events was the “What I Love” stamp set. I did a Triple Time Stamping card to demonstrate this stamp set.
For the next card, I used the Party Wishes stamp set, the Confetti Embossing Folder and the Party Punch Pack casing the card in the Occasions catalog:
The embossing folder is sponged in the three colors, Melon Mambo, Pool Party, and Crushed Curry before running it through the Big Shot. Sponge the side with the indents if you want the confetti to be white like it is here. The confetti behind the cake is created by coloring only the confetti of the Make a Wish stamp with a marker. For the inside Happy Birthday, I used the Wet Wipe Technique, placing several drops of reinker on a wet wipe (placed on a silicone sheet to protect your work surface) and then use that for your ink pad! Voila! Lots of random color! The Melon Mambo balloon is stamped and punched, the cupcakes are colored with a marker, stamped and punched, and the candle on the cake is colored, stamped and punched. All three punches come in the Party Punch Pack. The cake is fussy cut and popped up after attaching thick twine with glue dots! One stamper used Perfect Plum instead of Melon Mambo for a more masculine card.
The following card uses another embossing folder technique-Stamping With An Embossing Folder. This is simply inking up your embossing folder and then using it to stamp on your card. I used the Honeycomb Embossing Folder and Sahara Sand Ink and purposely left some areas of the folder uninked for a subtle background:
The Whisper White paper is cut at 8″ X 5 1/4″ and scored at 4″. It is adhered to a piece of Blackberry Bliss cut at 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″. This gives a nice alternative to our standard layering. The greetings are from the Rose Wonder stamp set and stampers could choose from a variety of greetings in that stamp set to create the perfect card. Kinda Eclectic was used for the sunbeams and greenery, and the butterflies are from the stamp set Papillon Potpourri. There are matching small and large punches to make quick and beautiful butterflies. The little flowers are from the Itty Bitty Punch set and gold metallic thread is looped behind the greeting. The silver metallic thread is used for antennae on the large butterfly.
My favorite card for this month is a birthday card using the Party Pop Up Thinlits Dies:
The paper is from the “It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack”. Page 5 of the Occasions catalog. The Hip Hip Hooray is cut out using the Thinlit Die. The confetti pieces from cutting it out were used on the inside for a little extra bit of celebration!
“A Day All About You” is from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set on page 8 of the big catalog. It is cut out with one of the Handpicked Framelits. “make a WISH” is from the Party Wishes stamp set and the banners are made using the little banner punch. The “make a WISH” greeting is colored with a black marker and stamped on a piece of the Designer Series Paper which has matching confetti on a white background instead of black. A black frame is made with the 1 1/2″ circle punch. A piece of black confetti Designer Series Paper measuring 3 3/4″ X 5″ is placed behind the cut out, just down from the candle flames so the flames in the back of the cutout show the Crushed Curry cardstock. The strips on the side are 3/8″ X 5 1/4″. I was conserving paper by making strips. You could just as well have an 8 1/4″ X 5 1/4″ piece of the designer paper adhered to the main card stock. Cut a piece of copy paper 3 3/4″ wide to slip under the Happy Birthday cutout so that you can sponge the base, the words and the candles. Use sticky notes to protect the sides so you don’t sponge more than you want colored.
The balloons are punched with our new large balloon punch. The sides are sponged and a sparkle is added with the white gel pen. A glue dot holds the twine on the back of the balloon and a bow is added on top.
Main Cardstock: Crushed Curry 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ Scored at 4 14″
Black Confetti Designer Series Paper: 5 3/8″ X 4 1/8″
Shimmery White Cardstock for outside: 4 1/2″ X 3 1/2″
Scrap of same at least 3 1/2″ long for the greeting
Shimmery White for inside: 8 1/4″ X 5 1/4″
This is a fun card to make!
