Paul’s Birthday Celebration

Time for birthday cards!  I really can make simple cards!  This one wasn’t a fun fold just a simple one, but I think the monochromatic look gives it a wow factor.

For our friend Dan!

.

For Paul!

.

Recipe

  • Base:  Starry Sky, 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, Scored at 4 1/4
  • Strips on Front (3):  DSP, 1/2″ each, mount with 1/8″ borders between
  • White Layer on Front:  Basic White, 2 1/8 X 5 1/4
  • White Layer Inside:  Basic White, 4 X 5 1/4
  • Side Strip on Inside:  DSP, 1 X 5 1/4
  • Stamp Sets:
    • Just Believe Stampin’ Up! for greenery stamped in Blueberry Bushel
    • Outside ‘Happy Birthday’ is from Go To Greetings Stampin’ Up!
    • Inside ‘May Good Things Grow’ – Dragonfly Garden
    • Inside ‘No One Deserves…’, ‘Love you so much’, – Flowering Tulips
  • Embellishments
    • 3 Brass Butterflies
    • 3 Buttons with 3 navy blue gems for centers (attach with glue dots- the little glue dots on the gems won’t hold)

Christine’s valentine card for the shoebox event must have given you a bug for buttons!

Yes, Sal!  Before her card – see it here – I hadn’t used a button for years but I have a huge stash of them so I experimented and really liked the result.

Paul received a card from Jo and Dan and it was so fun!  He is looking forward to fishing trips this summer and Jo capitalized on his love of fishing.  The pole has a layer of gold foil and the hooks on the outside and inside are silver foil but the camera didn’t ‘catch’ those details.

For Paul’s birthday we spent the weekend in Breckenridge, CO.  It was spring break for many so the town was crowded but still fun to ride a gondola from where we were staying up on the mountain to the downtown restaurant.  Stacia, Jonathan, Emma and Joey met us for supper Friday night.  They live in Steamboat so they could have supper and then drive home.  We had an evening meal here before we left with Amber, Tyler, Jaxson & Emmitt since it was too far for them to drive.

Swiss Haven fondue supper!

Dessert time!

Paul’s birthday was well celebrated and I know he felt loved!

Thanks for stopping by!

Swap Cards From Club Members

Hello Stamping Friends,

You must see these amazing swap cards I received in January!  We have an ongoing club – virtual right now- and our members choose to swap or not each month.  In January six members participated in the swap.  You, too, can join or start a club!  Club members receive free catalogs, card kits for each month of club and the opportunity to be the hostess as we rotate members (this means free products!).  Contact me at stampalosopher@gmail,com!

Jo used a bridge fold to make this stunning card with Grace’s Garden Stamp Set and Garden Gateway dies.  I missed purchasing the water fountain stamp set before it retired.  I loved the birds but couldn’t think how I could use the fountain.  Now I know!

Isn’t Joy’s card delightful?  She used products from the Ice Cream Corner Suite in the JJ catalog page 49 and the Stitched So Sweetly dies.  The inside was stamped:  “With Sprinkles On Top”  and she wrote “why not?”   It brought a smile to my day!

Suzi’s card is unique with a layer on top of two sections of Bumble Bee paper embossed with the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder. When closed the card looks like it has just one layer of embossed paper.  The greeting is from the Blossoms In Bloom stamp set cut out with a Stitched So Sweetly Die.  The gorgeous flower is from the Prized Peony stamp set.  What beautiful coloring!

Lori’s card is made with the Poppy Moments Dies which can be bundled with the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set for a 10% savings.  The basket weave embossing folder and the Vertical Greetings stamp set are perfect for a background. I hope you got both of these before they retired.

Wow!  Sometimes I growl at my pictures because they don’t catch the beauty of the card but this time I was delighted!  Lucille’s card practically glows!  She used the fold from the Mystery Card #8 at the end of December.  The Peaceful Poppy designer Series Paper is retired but hopefully in your stash for cards like this.  Lucille used the Stitched Shapes Dies for the ovals.

Sharon’s card is so unique and it has a glimmer paper strip at the bottom with the top cut short so you see it from the outside and the inside!  Such a perfect New Year’s card to welcome in 2021 with banners and firework like stars!

My swap was a New Year’s card, too, and you saw it and the instructions in my previous post.

Thank you for spending some time today with my stamping friends and our swap cards!

Ornate Garden Suite

Hello Stamping Friends,

Hostess code through April 25th:  RH4REUGF

Stampin’ Up! is letting us order from a new suite of products that will be in the June annual catalog!

Uh oh…… I see lots of daisies – better grab the checkbook, Dad, or the grocery money will be gone!

But Sal, we are isolating in our homes and Stampin’ Up! is still delivering fun new products to help us keep our sanity.  The home office has set up new schedules to protect their employees who can’t work from home so they stay safe yet are able to process and ship our orders.   The shipping is only about one day later than normal.  For those of us in Colorado, that means four days instead of three until we receive our crafting supplies.

Watch this Ornate Garden Suite video from the home office:

Checkout this paper with gold foil designs on some of the sheets:

That’s a lot to choose from.  What if they need (want) it all?

Then you order the suite, Sal!  With just one product number they will get it all!

Here is a pdf FLYER if you would like to print it out.

Look at this foil paper with a bit of coloring and the use of two of the border dies and the Old Olive ribbon:

This sample shows the detail of the Ornate Floral Embossing Folder, different Ornate Border Dies and the Terracotta Tile ribbon.

This next sample shows the uniqueness of the large greeting paired with the small words in the Ornate Thanks stamp set.  The Ornate Layers Die is used and the long rectangle die in the set will be a nice addition for a longer version of the stitched rectangles.  Note the Gilded Gems and the five flowers stamped from the single flower in the Ornate Style Stamp set, fussy cut and then layered on top of each other for a nice edge to the greeting.

And the final sample uses the Ornate Layers dies and that cool corner stamp in the Ornate Style Stamp set.  Did you notice the little bit of designer series paper underneath the greeting?

Let’s take a closer look at the samples shown on the flyer.  The first two use the single daisy stamp with Ornate Borders:

I had to look twice but the Ornate Thanks stamp set does have the “I’m” stamp shown above.  There is a clump of little flowers in the Ornate Style Stamp set and the tiny flowers on the ‘So Grateful’ card used fussy cuts from that stamp.  The ‘So Grateful’ card also uses Versa Mark to stamp the scrolly design on the Grapefruit Grove card stock but I couldn’t get it to zoom in enough to show you.

Those samples use every stamp in the Ornate Style Stamp set!!

Yes, indeed!  Thank you, Stampin’ Up!

Hostess code through April 25th:  RH4REUGF

I have tentatively scheduled Tuesday, June 9th, for our first weekday club and Saturday, June 13th, for the weekend club.  Both will start at 9:30.  We are starting a new year of rotations so please let me know if you are interested.  I would love to have two weekday clubs so tell your friends and text me at 303-814-8799 or email [email protected]

Stay safe and stay sane!

Build A Bouquet

Hello Stamping Friends,

(If you are viewing this in your email, it is just a post.  Click on the little SAL PAL image to go to the main blog. Thank you for following!)

Next event:   Card Buffet, October 17,  10AM – 4PM  I will have six designs.  Make one of each design or just pick two or three designs and make multiples of those designs.  Please RSVP before noon on Thursday so I have enough card kits.  Lunch and snacks are provided.  Cost is $3 per card.

Blog Updates:  There are now tabs at the top of the blog which allow you to go directly to the catalogs and another tab to go to the  Recipe Box where you can get the printable downloads of project instruction sheets, and you can click on the thumbnail picture to go back to the blog where that project was originally introduced.   When you want to make a card that is similar but do not want to try and figure out the dimensions, visit the Recipe Box.   Let me know if this helps spice up your crafting life.

Do you remember the front of the Occasions Catalog in January?  It was the beautiful bouquet kit.  I needed a special bouquet for a special friend and was delighted with this kit.

Build A Bouquet1

Several of you bought the Build A Bouquet kit so hopefully this will inspire you to make it.  Just remember it is a project and don’t expect to get it done in one evening.  I kept reminding myself that it wasn’t a card to be done in an hour but a project, like a quilt, to be done over time-but well worth the time.  The back was as pretty as the front:

Build A Bouquet Backside

The “Build A Bouquet” stamp set had a perfect message:

Build A Bouquet Greeting

Give me a call when you get ready to build your own bouquet and you can use my stamp set and the directions that I recreated so they were easier to follow.  303-815-0838
