Catalog Launch Extraordinaire

Hello Stamping Friends,

May 4th marked the debut of our new Annual Catalog!  It will run through May 2 of 2022.

Click on the catalog image here in this blog post for a pdf of the catalog.  The pdf is also posted in the ‘Catalog’ tab on the blog so you can view the pdf anytime anywhere with a mobile device or computer.

In celebration I held the annual catalog launch with lots of goodies for the attendees.

They each received a catalog enjoyment kit – commonly called catalog survival kit, but that sounds like it is painful so I called it a catalog enjoyment kit!

Just playing with words again!  You love doing that!

Obviously, Sal, that’s why I love blogging!

Catalog Enjoyment Kit pdf

(If you use this file in another year I suggest changing the green heading colors. I was trying to get Soft Succulent on Evening Evergreen but it was a bit hard to read.)

I found the perfect pouch at Walmart for the catalog and the ‘enjoyment’ kit and taped the above instructions on the outside.  The pouch is the perfect size for the catalogs and it is plastic so it will protect the contents.

I couldn’t find the right size of clear envelope for the goodies so I used a page protector, cutting off the binder holes and wrapping the excess around the back.  The wish list is a supply item available to demonstrators that is a pack of three wish lists.  I used one page from each of the lists.  I also added a set of catalog tabs from the supply items available to demonstrators.

There are lots of perks to being a demonstrator.  Come talk to me!

I cut a piece of cardstock and used glue dots to attach all the goodies.  The pen is from a pack of clear pens (Pentel RSVP brand); a small piece of the new hostess Pattern Party Designer Series Paper with hearts was rolled up and inserted in the pen.  I even found emoji bandaids for a cute little smile!  They do make individually wrapped lifesavers I found out, and of course Ghirardelli chocolates are a must as they are a tradition at my events.

Not to be rude, but why are you detailing all this?

Well, Sal, the joy of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators is that we CASE things – ‘copy and share everything’, and I have copied many many ideas from other demonstrators so it is only right that I provide ideas for my downline and other demonstrators that might be interested in casing what I have done.  Some of my customers might even become demonstrators building a business and need ideas like this.

There are times I think that I am just using my blog as a digital scrapbook for myself and then I realize I haven’t left comments on the blogs that I follow, so perhaps there are those who do use the ideas even though, like me, they never leave comments.

I see, so what else did you do at the catalog launch?

I had a raffle bag, a crossword puzzle scavenger hunt, a make and take card with the new In Colors and the traditional bookmark using the new In Colors and an In Color swatch sheet.

Raffle Bag

The raffle bag included magnets, a shopping bag, a notebook and the bag was a Stampin’ Up! lunch bag.  These are all supplies available to demonstrators.  The punch is the new ‘Elegant Tag’ punch!

To enter they could complete the crossword puzzle, place an order and receive one ticket for each $10 of merchandise purchased, or purchase a ticket directly for $2.50.

Who won the bag of goodies?

I will draw on Tuesday the 25th at our Zoom meeting!

Take a look at the new In Colors they are so lovely!  I loved them all this year and had to have all the inks and the ribbons and the markers and the blends and the paper – oh my!  I usually just choose one or two to highlight at the launch but not this year!

This is the bookmark we made using the In Color DSP for little samples on the front.  For the back we colored one of the sheets of the black and white Pattern Party Designer Series Paper available to hostesses.  We colored the top with blends and the bottom with markers so they could see the difference and get familiar with the colors. (and fall in love with them!)

We did a make ‘n take using the Color and Contour bundle in the new catalog.  They chose their color.

In the Catalog section of the demonstrator web site is a test to see which color you are.  I am Fresh Freesia according to the test.  What do you think?  Another fun demonstrator perk!

.

Recipe for Make ‘n Take

  • Base:  Thick Basic White, 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, Scored at 4 1/4
  • In Color Layer:  Fresh Freesia, 5 1/2 X 4 1/4, die cut with largest Scalloped Contour die

Stamp the flower from the Color and Contour stamp set in Evening Evergreen then do the second stamp in the Fresh Freesia.  We call this two step stamping – no coloring!   The ‘Thank You’ greeting is from the Pansy Patch stamp set in the new catalog.  Wait until you see what we can do with that pansy set and the ….

Whoa there…..don’t get ahead of yourself!

You are right!  That is for the next post.

Two important announcements from the home office:’

If you hold a qualifying party between now and June 14, you can earn more hostess dollars!

Catalog Launch with New Wonders

Hello Stamping Friends,

We had a fun day Saturday at the catalog launch.  Jo and Lucille had cards to sell and Christine brought cute little boxes to sell that she had made and filled with chocolate kisses.  I had many stamp sets and tools for sale and those that didn’t sell will be posted here on the blog under the tab “bake sale” after we return from Yellowstone.

I traveled to a funeral held on Thursday and was glad to have our new Stampin’ Up! bags to pack all my tools so I could make the In Color bookmark at the motel so it would be ready for the make-and-take at Saturday’s event.

The bag held the Stamparatus bag and the 12X12 paper carrier and the inks, stamp set,  punch, shammy, ribbons, markers and more.  Love it!!

So what did I come up with for the Make- And -Take that would introduce our five new colors?

Drum roll…… introducing “New Wonders”:

Isn’t she adorable?  The Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper is the perfect background for her and all the new In Colors:

The words describe our new catalog!!

My club members were looking at our club schedule to see when they would be able to earn the New Wonders stamp set:

This set is a hostess set and can be earned by hosting a party or purchasing $150 or more of products.  It is also a DistINKtive set with all the amazing dimensions of that special type of stamp.  Do you notice how the pages on the bookmark look 3D?

Be sure and notice the Rococo Rose and Pretty Peacock ribbons used together on the bookmark.  They are unique and beautiful!

Bookmark Recipe:

  • In Color Base (Rococo Rose)  2 3/8″ X 8 1/2″  – corner rounded at the top
  • Designer Series Paper (DSP) Perennial Essence  2 1/4″ X 8 3/8″  – corner rounded
  • In Color strips to stamp the pages in each color  1 1/2″  X 3 1/4″  – 5 In Colors, stamp and fussy cut the pages only on each color
  • Shimmer White for angel  2 1/2″ X 2 1/2″  Stamp, color and fussy cut.  I left the pages on the image and then glued the Purple Posy on top of the Shimmer White.  The darker colors won’t show the little hands as well.
  • Shimmer White for greeting 2 3/4″ X 1 3/4″- use the 2nd smallest oval in the Stitched Shapes framelits
  • 5″ ribbon in Pretty Peacock and Rococo Rose
  • 8″ twine

Each year I do a Color Chart for the five new In Colors and the stampers make one at the catalog launch.  The colors will be current through June 1st of 2021.  Each year a new set of five In Colors is introduced and those colors stay current for two years.

Contact me if you would like A) the set of 12 color charts or B) just the new In Color Chart and new comparison charts.  The full set is $12, the new comparison charts and In Color Chart are $6. The 12 charts are the Basics, Neutrals, Regals, Subtles, Brights, Greens, Blues & Grays, Oranges & Yellows, Purples & Browns, Reds & Pinks, In Colors 18-20, In Colors 19-21.

I would love to earn your business and be your demonstrator!  I have clubs that meet on Tuesdays and Saturdays every other month and in the off month I have Stamp A Stacks or other crafting events.  Check out the calendar to see what’s in store for this coming year!

New In Colors, In Color Bookmark and Flip Flop using all the In Colors, Club Cards & More

(Note: Click on the little SAL image to redirect to the main site where all links are active)

Hello Stamping Friends,

I have neglected you this past month but I return now with a plethora of new ideas for card making.  Hold on…..

First the new In Colors introduced at the catalog launch:

In Color SheetAren’t they fabulous colors?  Email me with your email if you would like the Excel sheet to make all the color collections.  See my last post for how I use these sheets to organize my paper stock in an Elfa 18″ storage system.

In Color BookmarkI chose my two favorite colors, Dapper Denim and Emerald Envy for the new 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon in this year’s In Color Bookmark.  The Swirly Scribble Thinlits made a perfect bouquet so I could use all the colors.  After attaching them to the Dapper Denim layer with the Fine Tip Glue Pen  I ran that layer through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder, keeping it to the edge that had lots of dots. The Awesome is from the new stamp set “Marquee Messages” stamped on Sweet Sugarplum.

If that is a bit too bold for you how about a Flip Flop using all the new In Colors and using one of the new Floral Affection Embossing Folders to add pizzaz to the straps…..

In Color Flip FlopDoesn’t that show how well all the colors go together?  The template is on Pinterest, I just scaled it to 130% for a bigger card.  The smaller flowers and the greenery are from the “Bloomin’ Love Stamp Set and the Larger one from the “Birthday Blossoms” set.  The Flower Shop Stamp Set was used for the large flower on the strap and punched out with the Pansy punch with a “Petite Petal” flower stamped and punched to go on top.  The flowers on the new Floral Affection embossing Folder aligned perfectly on the straps to give them dimension.  That was a bit of serendipity.

I must thank Lucille Kearin for the beautiful Thank You card she made for me!  At the catalog launch I also stage a crafting garage sale and Lucille and several of the stampers brought items to sell.  Isn’t Lucille’s card beautiful? Okay I do need lessons in focusing…

Lucille's CardLucille has a lovely blog and has won different contests with her cards.  Check it out here: http://www.whitepoints.blogspot.com

My grandson needed a special card and I found just the thing at Stephanie Fisher’s blog http://www.thecraftythinker.com.au

Seaside Shore

Seaside Shore inside

Isn’t it just so much fun?  You use blue hair gel in a little jewelry bag that you sandwich between two layers,  The stamp set is “Seaside Shore” and the banner is from “Banners For You”.   The fish is stamped on a window sheet with Staz On. I colored him yellow with a permanent marker on my first card but the yellow bled in the hair gel and it looked like he had peed in the water.  So this fish didn’t get colored. Visit Stephanie’s blog for detailed directions.

For club this month I chose the Jacob’s Coat technique for my technique sheet and then made this card to show an example to you.

Joseph's Coat

This technique starts with sponging colors on a neutral color of cardstock, I chose Shimmery White cardstock and used Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry….

Joseph's Coat StartYou let the ink dry, or dry it by heating with the heat tool and then coat it well with the embossing buddy.  I forgot that step on one card and had a mess so be sure and use the embossing buddy and then stamp your images with Versa Mark.  I used “Moroccan Nights” for my images and the new stamp set “Scenic Sayings” for Hey There Friend.  Apply Clear Embossing Powder to your images and then heat set.  Use your brayer and a dark ink, I used Elegant Eggplant, and brayer over and over until all the background is colored.  Take a paper towel and wipe off your images and I guarantee you will gasp at how fabulous they look!  I decorated with the new Enamel Shapes.  They are brighter and shinier than the candy dots we used to have and I am loving them!!

Our card for club is the now infamous “Magic Card”….

Magic CardEven correctly focused it is pretty strange at first look to see black images but wait….pull up the top tab and voila….

Magic Card Openthe images are colored magically!  It is a layer of Window Sheet stamped with outline images in Stazon and a white piece of cardstock stamped with the full image and then both the window sheet and cardstock are hooked together at the top with a tab and then laced in front of and behind a middle piece of card stock. The new “Fresh Fruit” stamp set has both the outline and the full images- I wonder which came first the technique or the design of the stamp set?!   We embellished with the new Metallic Enamel Shapes and used the “Banners For You” stamp set with matching framelits.  This is a must have set with words for many occasions and four different sizes of banners.  Hint:  I struggled with stamping on the window sheet and getting the ink to stick until I cleaned the stamp with Staz On cleaner before inking.  Then when I inked and stamped, the image stamped well.  I think the cleaner adds just enough of an oil to keep the Stazon ink from sticking to the stamp instead of the paper.  For all the details there is a wonderful YouTube video by Stampin’ Up!

I used the framelit from “Seasonal Frame Thinlits” to cut out the rectangle front.  It is on sale in the Clearance Rack right now and saves so much time over cutting out the rectangle with the paper cutter.

So enjoy these techniques and let me know what you have made!
